Fluoridation on Trial

I haven't commented for a while, but I did not expect to find that the thread begun in 2015 with over 350,000 views and I don't remember how many hundreds of responses would be deleted, but "Fluoride: Demand AARP Take Action" was deleted.

It wasn't for inactivity because there are other threads that have been inactive for several years that are still live. Sadly, it is most likely because of political pressure to disappear the topic or more specifically, the evidence against fluoridation as a policy that poisons bodies, brains and bones from womb to tomb with the very young, the fragile and the elderly being most susceptible to harm.

I saved a few of the comments that I thought were particularly good, and I can post them as images when I chose to do so.  But let's talk about the current events that moved me to come to this forum today in order to sound off.

****************

The Court has instructed Judge Chen to travel back in time to 2020 and make this ruling based on a stale factual record. Their directive to ignore years’ worth of evidence on fluoride’s dangers runs counter to the intent of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).” - Attorney Michael Connett (in The Defender, May 22, 2026)

Using a procedural argument, the three-judge Appellate Court sided with the EPA who claimed that District Court Judge Chen put the trial in abeyance for too long waiting for the National Toxicology Program's (NTP) Systematic Review to be published and consequently allowed "new evidence" of developmental neurotoxicity to be considered. Understand, we are talking about a mountain of scientific evidence that has been validated repeatedly proving early life exposure to fluoride causes subtle brain damage. EPA was not able to defend itself against that evidence in either the first or second part of this trial, but the EPA (despite what it claimed subsequently) did keep bringing up the published NTP draft and unpublished "Spanish Study" during the first trial, both of which were presented subsequently.

Not only that, but government players worked behind the scenes to keep the final NTP Report from being published, which pushed the initial  "it will be available in 2 or 3 months" to over three years to publication - and that's only because of an internal whistleblower and the Judge suggesting from the bench that the NTP get it into print. The August 2024 Systematic Review Monograph was followed by a January 2025 Meta-Analysis

Judge Chen issued his 80 page Findings in September 2024 that fluoridation policy poses an "unreasonable risk" to baby brains and that EPA must take Action. Also discussed in the court Findings is the Uncertainty (or Safety) Factor of some multiple of ten that EPA applies to risks of this type. A single UF of 10 applied to the 1.5 mg/L found to be harmful would result in a Maximum Contaminant Level of 0.15 ppm which would eliminate all fluoridation programs. Currently, the lowest UF that EPA uses is 30 and most are around 100. The UF allows for different individual variations which include health and exposure, as in when someone drinks much more water than someone else the person with the higher intake gets a much higher dose/exposure.

In any event, the Appellate Court decided the District Court and EPA should and could remain willfully blind to the evidence of harm published since summer 2020. That story is not over, yet.

Now the kickers

First: Fluoridation apologists are petitioning the EPA to consider recent trumped up science like the 2026 Wisconsin study by JR Warren et al. that looked at a cohort born in 1940, ten years before fluoridation, who graduated from high school in the mid 1950s to claim there is no IQ difference. The authors assumed 1940 fluoride exposure for the population of entire counties if one well in a small sampling done in 2020 showed fluoride in the water. In other words, these high school kids had no prenatal exposure to fluoridation and doubtful exposure to any fluoride and the cohort excluded the kids who were unable to graduate. How the heck does that prove anything!!! (The Defender, May 1, 2026)

Second: Lobbyists are trying to undo the Citizen Petition element of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) that allowed the people to first petition the EPA and then to sue in court for a de novo hearing in order to pressure EPA to do its job of protecting consumers. (Bergeson & Campbell PC, May 29, 2026)

Don't kid yourself, seniors. The government is not looking after your health or the well being of your grandchildren!

Make a noise! Tell your representatives on Main Street, at the State House and in Congress to take the poison out of your water!

Whether one is for or against fluoridation, fluoride is so ubiquitous on foods, dental products, medicines & air pollution making artificial water fluoridation unnecessary and potentially harmful.  There's no dispute that too much fluoride damages, bones, brains and children's developing teeth.  US federal statistics show that 70% of US children and adolescents are fluoride overdosed and afflicted with dental fluorosis - but no study has been done to see how fluoride overdose has potentially damaged their brains.  There are 100s of studies showing fluoride is neurotoxic http://fluoridealert.org/articles/brain

Fluoride sources are many:

Absent from labels, fluoride is in virtually all foods and beverages, including, soda, baby foods and all infant formulas, It’s high in tea (up to 6 mg/L, according to the US National Institutes of Health), ocean fish and soy productsAnd, because of fluoride-containing pesticide residues, all grapes and its products (raisins, juice, wine, jellies, jams) have a significant fluoride content. (Cryolite, the fluoride-containing pesticide used on grapes was voluntarily withdrawn from the market by the manufacturer in 2021)

EPA allows extremely high amounts of fluoride pesticide residues on foods  See "Fluoride tolerances approved by US EPA as of July 15, 2005"

Fluoride is even in chocolate, french friessea saltHimalayan salt, and ready-to-drink coffee (up to 1.5 mg/L)

Foods made with mechanically separated (boned) chicken, such as canned meats, hot dogs, and infant foods, also add fluoride to the diet (J Agric Food Chem Sept 2001) "A single serving of chicken sticks alone would provide about half of a child's upper limit of safety for fluoride," the researchers report.

Fluoride ingested daily from toothpaste ranges from 1/4 to 1/3 milligram (National Institutes of Health) “Gels used by dentists are typically applied one to four times a year and can lead to ingestions of 1.3 to 31.2 mg fluoride each time.”

"Following Silver Diamine Fluoride  application, the serum fluoride concentrations ranged from 6 to 36ng/mL(0.006 to 0.036 ppm)"

Tooth filling material - glass ionomer cement (GIC) leaches out fluoride over time

Fluoride is in 20% of medicines, food packaging and inhaled from air pollution

Other sources come from feed regimens of animal products, animal products; food storage containers (Teflon-coated containers); and food packaging (migration of perfluorochemicals into food).

Paper cups lined with water-proofing chemicals give off fluoride ions, when exposed to hot liquids. And Paper straws contain fluorinated compounds.

Some calcium supplements contain fluoride

"eggshells also contain trace amounts of minerals that promote bone health, such as strontium, fluoride, magnesium, and selenium...their powdered form is used in dietary supplements"

Fluoride in other sources, according to "A Concise Overview Of Fluoride Contamination And Its Adverse Effects On Human Health And Plant Biochemistry," (European Chemical Bulletin 2020)

Various spices, including Almond, Garlic, Ginger, Coriander, Cumin Seeds, Turmeric, and Black Salt, are known to contain fluoride. The fluoride concentrations in these spices are as follows: Coriander at 2.3%, Cumin Seeds at 1.8%, Ginger at 2.0%, and Garlic at 5.0% (Mahapatra, 2007).

Additionally, nuts and oilseeds such as almond, coconut, mustard oil, and groundnut exhibit elevated levels of fluoride. The fluoride concentrations in these items are 4.0% for Almond, 4.4% for Coconut, 5.7% for Mustard Seeds, and 5.1% for Groundnut (Mahapatra, 2007)

Human activities such as industrialization, motorization, fluoridating drinking water sources, fluoridating dental goods, refrigerants, and fire extinguishers, among others, can lead to man-made fluoride contamination," (International Journal of Innovative Research in Technology)  References at fluoridedangers blogspot  https://fluoridedangers.blogspot.com/2023/03/fluoride-abundant-in-foods-beverages.html

“There is no doubt in my mind that fluoridation has next to no benefit in terms of reduced dental decay and the risks for harm to several organ systems, including the brain, are so significant as to make fluoridation a practice that can now be considered ineffective and unsafe.” - Dr. Hardy Limeback BSc, PhD, DDS, former President of Canadian Association of Dental Research, retired head of Preventative Dentistry at the Univ of Toronto, coauthor of 2006 National Research Council report to EPA on Fluoride in Drinking Water  (2017)

Either you are being sarcastic or you love the fluoride mythology.

See Science here: https://www.fluoridelawsuit.com/science

And expert dental opinion against fluoride here: https://iaomt.org/resources/fluoride-facts/

A summary:

1. Dental damage from youthful consumption of fluoride

2. Neurological damage from prenatal, youthful and long term exposure to fluoride

3. Biological damage to endocrine, immune, renal, gastrointestinal and other systems

4. Bone damage from long term exposure and exposure during critical growth periods

5. Increased risk of complications during pregnancy affecting both mother and child

6. Disproportionate harm to various vulnerable populations due to ethnicity, age, health conditions, genetics or epigenetics.
