Do Not Purchase Hartford Car Insurance

WORST adjusters that I have ever dealt with for a car accident where I was the victim of a hit and run. They have less than 5 adjuster staff to cover the entire state! Due to the lack of staffing, they will try and force you to settle without an in-person inspection. 

This is their process-

Adjuster A contacts you to tell you they will be your adjuster of the vehicle is not totaled.

Adjuster B contacts you to tell you the vehicle is totaled.

Go back to adjuster A to ask about what is covered, car rental, medical etc. NO RESPONSE. They will not reveal the uninsured insurance.

Adjuster A finally responds to say I'm no longer the adjuster because it is totaled.

Ask Adjuster B about insurance coverage and the response is to ask Adjuster A.

Then adjuster C comes in without any of the information from adjuster A or B. Starting the benefits claim process again.

Ask Adjuster C what is covered and no response.

Adjuster B asked me to sign a power of attorney to release the car.

Signed it. There is no email receipt. You MUST take a picture of the document BEFORE you sign to show the date and then AFTER as this is your only proof. 

Adjuster B 2 WEEKS later, you need to sign the power of attorney.

Two months in and they still refuse to share my uninsured coverage.

 

It would be laughable if this were an offender's car insurance. It's my own car insurance displaying their own ineptness, poor customer service, lack of care, and no internal communication.

Really think more about purchasing this insurance. I would never recommend it to anyone. Especially a senior who can be manipulated into accepting their low appraisals and dealing with several people like a shell game you didn't agree to instead of one person for the whole process. The confusion they create works in their favor.

 

If you are in an accident, ONLY contact them through email do not use voice calls. Tell them you will only respond through email because they will try to force a voice call. I have had to show my emails repeatedly as proof of our conversations and their mistakes. Adjuster A and B use condescending language to cover their missteps and blame the customer. Emails took care of that!

 

I thought I could trust AARP affiliations and I was wrong. I am in disbelief and disgust that AARP supports this organization after national lawsuits and all the complaints they receive for their nefarious practices. Shame on AARP for not protecting seniors.
