NEW AARP COMMUNITY

My take on this “NEW AARP COMMUNITY FORMAT due to arrive around

August 5, 2026.

Our points-based rewards program has finally keeled over that’s a metaphor
If and when it’s members come to the realization all their efforts to provide and protect the integrity of this program have failed horribly because AARP has ignored us time after time.
A community is a group of people coming together in the same place, sharing common interests, hopes and dreams. It centers on shared space, mutual understanding, and social interaction, all of which AARP rejects.
Apparently AARP has decided to reconstruct the community feature within this program so its members will have to bend to their will or leave. Over the last few years all they have done is take, take and take away everything we members have enjoyed.
Look at what is taking place right now with the points only rewards. They have reduced the value to only $5 while a few years ago it was as much as $25 frequently and as much as $50 a few times.
Today there are 28 $5 points only rewards. I am excluding from redeeming 20 of them due to PURCHASES ARE LIMITED TO ONLY ONE, with the other 8, either the merchant is not in my area or I have no interest in the reward.
This may be my last post if the AI moderator catches it.  OH WELL

I didn't know the format was changing, I'm glad I saw your post so this won't be a complete surprise for me.  I am a bit jealous whenever I see people reminisce about the days when there were $25 and $50 gift cards.  I only joined a few years ago, when there were only a handful of $10 gift cards offered each month and those sold out so fast I usually wasn't even able to get any of then.  So for me, this deluge of $5 gift cards is better than nothing, even though I can only get 3 a month.  I have seen posts saying that the rewards membership was changed sometime in the past (maybe when they stopped offering the $25/$50 gift cards?) so that not only seniors but everyone could join.  I expect the membership exploded at that time, and it just wasn't feasible for them to keep offering the $25/$50 gift cards.  Of course, this is just speculation on my part, so maybe there are other reasons for the changes in the program.

I had no idea it was changing either, glad I saw this topic today. I have been on here about 5 or 6 years and the first week I was playing the instant wins I won $100 (yes it really was $100) gift card to Bed, Bath and Beyond. I thought it was too good to be true so I immediately used it for an online order!

Lol Lucy @rednexsrus , YOUR post will be here (or edited) until Monday. 😂 You are definitely a "rebel" my friend. 😉 Yes, it will be "interesting" to see what happens AFTER August 5th. Fingers - toes - eyes - legs "crossed" it is an IMPROVEMENT. 🤞

HAPPY Saturday All,

Nicole 🤗💛

If it really is AI monitoring these posts, then it might not last until Monday, since AI doesn't take weekends off 😀.  Happy Saturday to you too Nicole.

Thanks Renate @RenateW69623 my friend. 🤗💛

I am "probably" wrong as usual 🙄, but I think the "famous" AARP SPAM SOFTWARE is on "duty" when the HUMANS are off on the weekends. 😉

Since the SOFTWARE "allowed" Lucy @rednexsrus to post THIS THREAD, she should be okay until the humans "clock" back in on Monday 8am ET. They may or may NOT "censor" what she said about AARP. Lol, we will find out on Monday. 😂

Nicole!
