So we have Father's Day covered in one topic, which is June 17th, so we'd better get busy with a list for Mother's Day which is right around the corner on May 13th!!
Songs about mom, mama, or even a song for mom . . .
"The Mother" by Brandi Carlisle
Walking in The Sun - BB King
This one was written by a guy for his father, but has always, somehow, seemed like a perfect Mother's Day song.
This is My Mother (Emma Teanet)
My Mother is a Black Woman (Antwan)
Mamas Dont' Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys ==> Waylon Jennings
A Song for Mama --- Boyz II Men

"Coat of Many Colors" Dolly Parton
"Mama Said" The Shirelles
"Because You Loved Me" Celine Dion
"Mama's Song" Carrie Underwood
"Forever Young" Rod Stewart (you will always be forever young in a mother's heart!)
I think its called " Mother" . My mom used to sing this. I think I remember the words. "M is for the million things she gave me, O means only that she's growing old, T is for the tears she shed to save me, H is for her heart of purest gold, E is for the lovelight that is shining(?) R is right and right she'll always be. Put them all together they spel MOTHErR a word that means the world to me." Wow..I think I came close. ![]()
Kondrat the song is called " M-O-T-H-E-R ( Name That Means The World To Me)" It is truly a beautifull song. It's one of my favorites
Here are the Lyrics: You had it right. ![]()

I've been around the world, you bet, but never went to school Hard knocks are all I seem to get, perhaps I've been a fool; But still, some educated folks, supposed to be so swell, Would fail if they were called upon a simple word to spell. Now if you'd like to put me to the test, There's one dear name that I can spell the best! "M" is for the million things she gave me "O" means only that she's growing old "T" is for the tears she shed to save me "H" is for her heart of purest gold "E" is for her eyes with love-light shining "R" means right and right she'll always be Put them all together they spell MOTHER, a word that means the world to me. When I was but a baby, long before I learned to walk, While lying in my cradle, I would try my best to talk; It wasn't long before I spoke and all the neighbors heard, My folks were very proud of me for "Mother" was the word. Although I'll never lay a claim to fame, I'm satisfied that I can spell the name: "M" is for the mercy she possesses "O" means that I owe her all I own "T" is for her tender, sweet caresses "H" is for her hands that made a home "E" means ev'rything she's done to help me "R" means real and regular, you see Put them all together they spell MOTHER, a word that means the world to me.
My mom loved music. In her late years I’d find her sitting in her car listening to CDs, singing along while she waited for me to pick her up for lunch or shopping. The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and many more blasted from the car. I’d have to tap on the window to get her attention. We got a kick out of this, it set the tone for a nice afternoon out on the town. At the end of her life I moved her in with me. I’d play these CDs loud and long while she sipped Coca Cola thru a straw. Some times we’d kick it up a notch and share a root beer float!
Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) - Celine Dion. Sad, of course. But, a message to Mom about how much she means to us for the rest of her life. This song took on a whole new meaning to me after my own Mother passed. She was 99. Fortunately, I appreciated her as much as the song indicates. How is your Mom doing? How is your relationship with her? When was the last time you spoke with her and saw her?
Mama Weer All Crazee Now - Slade
Mama said there would be days like this -
Son of Hickory Hollar’s Tramp- O C Smith about the sacrifices a mama made to raise her 14 children.
Papa’s got a squeeze box mama never sleeps at night.
I’ll always love my mama by ?
"Mama Didn’t Like My New Squeeze So Now I’m 69 and Single" by The Rocky Canyon Boys.
My mama told me you better shop around. The Miracles
