 I would recommend looking for some youtube instructional videos... Unless you have someone local willing to drop by and teach you, I think this is the best route.. II am similar, where I need to see and do a thing to understand it, and youtube tutorials have helped me learn things I had attempted to learn several times before over many years.  you may need to check out a few to find a good one as there is alot of content whos title contains -the thing you are looking for- while the video is actually a lot more about the host and how cool/hot/hip/smart they are.
