@catwoman500 , I heard about the NJ earthquake! Glad you are all right. Reminds me of the one in VA several years back. Same thing, I wasn't sure what was happening until I looked outside and saw everything shaking. I've lived in CA and Japan and know about earthquakes, but you just don't expect them on the east coast.
@iLuvNature , are you back in VA? Thought you moved to FL. Sorry if I missed something.

About the only tremor I ever felt in Maine, was a dainty changing moment, was jacking up my camp and Jack partially crushed my ring and me.I know it’s ez enough to put ring on mandrel but, it’s kinda a CYA everytime I look at it.
To date all fingers are still attached and kinda work, besides it’s my favorite and most often used finger to use in southlands.
Now time for happy pills and food enjoy

Shucks my background doesn’t cover everything only enough to be dangerous.
check out -
I only know what to do when the ground starts shaking, go under a table And hang on to it.Door frames or out in the open hunker down and hang on.In a car fasten seat belt, and go when shaking stops.
To date I’m lucky New England has relatively inactive plate lines.BUT, man in his infinite wisdom NOT!
Is screwing around with Mother Nature between climate change, mining, drilling etc,

Lol, I was feeling safe.
I know Florida had a few RECENTLY.
Oh well, when it is my time to go, I am ready. Seems nowhere is safe from Natural Disasters anymore.

Might be the right attitude, don’t know. Promised my late sister that I’d annoy her kids And grands just like she did.
Like the idea of sticking around long enough to get full battery used up.”Pacemaker”12 years.
Florida is iffy hurricanes, tornadoes, overbuilding, and sink holes where the ground disappears beneath your house. Might be why most of my nephews are coming up here, or seeking out the country and higher elevations than sea level. Remains to be seen.
My favorite bunker has been sold, neighbor with well stocked wine cellar.👎🏻Boo,hiss.Do what makes you happy.

@iLuvNature , yes, Willie Mae and Giorgio are notorious nappers. I think they say cats can sleep up to 18 hours/day. They become more active when the sun goes down.
Everything here popping out green overnight. Bushwhacking season over. 🚶 We used to be able to go through April, almost May. The good ol' days. Last hike/bushwhack was Easter to a couple of old homesites in SNP. And it rained mid-hike. Climbing back up a mountainside slipping and sliding on wet leaves and rocks while navigating through greenbriar was great fun!
NOT.

My memorable moment at SNP was similar ,campground was 60* with 2 dogs and the RV, Went into the bush down 20 feet and it was like a rainforest.
Immediate temperature climbed to 80-90.
We were all panting by the time we hit campground and A/C was turned on. The dogs were tired by the time we returned, couldn’t have been more than a 3-hour bushwhack. But it was better than parking in Cherry Hill for a month.
During the flooding and heavy rains. Mud up to here, might be confusing my songs but, we were both singing about the big muddy when we returned. Shenandoah is on my bucket list for future if it allows.

@MsStretch , I notice Mr. No Name has been "knocked out" in his bed on Ms. Geraldine's Front Porch during the DAY. Lol, in fact when I go over there before my morning trip to Walmart on Tuesdays he MAY "ignore me or come over or stick his head out" = I am INTERRUPTING his ALL DAY NAP!!!
Does Queen Willie Mae and the Prince NAP ALL DAY?
His MANSION [plastic container under one of her chairs, 1st chair, NOT one by her Front Door] with his KING-SIZE BED.
He is a "hot mess" and got into it with another cat over his bed when Ms. Geraldine set up his mansion last December = his Christmas Present. I NEVER see any other cats here so it might have been one who THOUGHT they could move in.
Take Care,
Nicole 👵

Hey, @DaveMcK @iLuvNature @Frozenoem @Therapist4u @LeeS4949 @MsStretch @LaDolceVita... and anyone who happens to come by...
At my age I thought I was finished experiencing "firsts," but this morning around 10:25, there was a 4.7 mag. earthquake! The epicenter was in NJ, but quite a few areas felt it. I was in the bathroom when it started and at first I thought there was something wrong with my heater and it was going to explode. The noise was incredible. Sounded like a huge, unbalanced washer full of stuff. The whole house was shaking. I thought to myself, Is this an earthquake? In all my 75 years, I actually have never felt an earthquake before.
Lasted about 30 seconds and gradually settled down. I looked outside...nothing unusual. Was very perplexed until about 15 minutes later the TV news people started breaking into programming with the news that it was an earthquake.
For such a magnitude, it was surprising that there had so far been no reported injuries or damage.
So, my weekend was off to a rather exciting start! 😲
Anyone else feel that? They say it was felt from MA to MD.

Hi again @catwoman500
I found this interesting coincidence...on the same day as y’alls earthquake : The New Madrid Seismic Zone started rocking early Friday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a magnitude 2.1 earthquake at 12:17 a.m. April 5. The tremor was centered along the Mississippi River in Lake County, Tennessee & had a depth of 4.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the New Madrid Seismic Zone is the “most seismically active in North America east of the Rockies.”
Take care!

Hi @catwoman500
I wanted to share this too:
A Hunterdon County homeowner roughly 5 miles from the epicenter showed a house camera clip from of the moment the 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck New Jersey Friday morning, sending tremors up and down the East Coast.....it shows mild shaking before quickly moving to more intense tremors as the entire house shook.
Hope you’re doing well!
As always... Take care!

Have a friend in western MA, that was talking about it.I think the east coast is on a fault line, Didn’t feel anything in Maine for this one.
But, in the past I have felt a couple last year and in years past. Not of major intensity.

Back in the 90s living in Winslow Maine I turned in one night. The bed and dresser were against a wall. The next morning i woke up and the bed, dresser, and i were in the middle of the room! I thought," I guess they dont make dreams like that anymore."

Seems that AARP still reads those little surveys that offer you to gripe via text or email, they DO respond and actually check upon the webpages.
Heck I was thrilled when someone actually fixed the you got mail alert that was dated 2021 or 2022 for years.
It also seems to help if you remain active on the boards, otherwise you become a ghost poster drawing total blank on the name, it’s in the about pages under help or it was. Surprised me when I read posts from people long dead or just gone back to work.

Born at 360’ elevation but, yes a flatlander born in evil lands , translation MA or taxachusetts with firewood in my paw. According to most Maine born, I’m not as annoying as true flatlanders.
Not planning to be planted here, family plot in Exeter NH where dbl. stacking is allowed if in vault.
Get used to it, are you behind on your notifications or spending hours In No cell service areas. It’s easy to do in Maine. At 23 or 24* it’s hard to desire to go out for signal, and no power means even the mesh booster doesn’t cut it.
When in range of tower or booster, I tend to get notification 2-3 days old.
