I hope that the doctors can help you.  Amazing how you wake up one day and everything falls apart.  To make matters worse I come home from the doctors and see my garbage can IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET.  So dumb me goes to bring it back to the curb.  Ankle gives out and there I am laying in the middle of the street thinking how in the h*ll am I going to get up and to the curb??  So I crawl to the curb and cling to the garbage can to pull myself up.  Now I injured my elbow, hand, hip, ankle and knee!!!  I was glad no one saw this.  I will call the doctor on Monday to see if I should have an Xray taken on that leg to see if I fractured anything.  Later on in the day as I calmed down, I laughed thinking about what I must have looked like; this old white haired lady crawling on the street to the curb.  So again, I take one step forward (going to the doctors and getting tests done) and then two steps back by falling on the ground and injuring myself even more!  I think this is a reminder from God to TAKE CARE OF MYSELF, but it seems that I am a slow learner.  I am glad that you are going to the doctors for your leg.  I guess we can all move into Nicole's retirement home with our walkers, wheelchairs and canes.  Marcy and I will cook and bake and we will all get fat. ๐Ÿคฃ

Cadee, isn't that just the way things happen for us. I'm so sorry. What an ordeal. I hope your ankle is ok. And try to slow down. Take care!

Oh Cadee @Cadee2719 ! You just can't catch a break my dear friend! You must take care of yourself and let your garbage can do the same! If someone runs over the garbage can you can get a replacement, but you are a different story. As we age it is important to think ahead about the potential consequences for our actions. It's an ongoing conversation I have with myself! Bless you for finding a bit of humor about your situation later in the day.

Thank You Marcy.  I have always been very active and the many years my husband was ill, I took over being "the man of the house" doing all the tasks.  I love being busy, BUT as others have told me many, many times I am getting older and need to slow down.  THIS was definitely a wake up call for me.  I truly want to spend the end of my life being happy, content, rested and as healthy as I can be.  Thank You for caring.

@Cadee2719 Wow you have even

outdone my stupid fall out of bed that

hurt my leg! Seriously Iโ€™m concerned as youโ€™re having leg issues already. You

should at the bare minimum go to Urgent Care. They will advise you of next steps. In the mean time, icing the injuries is key.
Take a NSAID and
rest. Keep us posted ๐Ÿคž

I am waiting on the results of the 11 vials of blood test that the doctor ordered.  On October 6 I am getting a bone density test.  The ice and walker and steroid are helping.  I will talk to the doctor today about my fall and see if I need X-rays.  The pain in my calfs began several months ago after a new technician gave me a nuclear stress test.  I was in so much pain right after the test thinking he used too much chemicals.  It felt like my head and calfs were going to EXPLODE and I have gone downhill since.  I intend to discuss this with my cardiologist in two weeks.  Then again, I am old and falling apart.  Thank You for caring Nurse Beatle.  โค๏ธ  Now what is the update on your leg? hmmmmmm

Seems I suffered a reaction from the flu shot. Didn't get full blown flu but have

been quite sick. Much better today. I do try to stop by often as I can. It has really

helped and all the good people on it. I gain insight and understanding as

each person shares. So, taking each day as it is and trying to keep up with

things. Life happens every day, and don't we know it! lol  Have a good day

all you lovely people! Take care!

Hope you are feeling better.  I, too, have to get my flu shot.  They are telling you to get all the shots at once!  THAT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.  Some of these shots are new to us and there is no way of knowing the affects of getting all the shots at one time.   I got the pneumonia shot, will get the flu shot when I am brave enough to do so, holding off on the THIRD booster of Covid and the new shot for those over 60.

My son's place is on the market.  They had their first open house Sunday.  Things have come to a stand still for me.  I am having a problem with my legs and it is very difficult for me to walk.  Went to the doctors yesterday, got blood taken today (11 vials!!!!) and waiting on the results.  I am also scheduled for a bone density test.  We were to fly into Idaho sometime this month to begin the house search, but I don't think I will be able to do that until I can walk without pain.  Hopefully the steroid prescribed will help eliminate the pain.  As I said, getting old is h*ll.  I am hoping that this will not delay my plans to move.  Thank You for inquiring Nicole.  I love on how you check on people and REALLY care about them the way you do.  I always enjoy hearing from you.

Cadee @Cadee2719 , I'm so sorry to hear about your leg pain. You are on it and turning it over to health professionals who hopefully are better equipped to analyze these things than we are. Focus on yourself to get through this time and do anything that brings relief or comfort. Take your steroid, breathe, think positive, healing thoughts, and maybe even read some material with encouraging themes.

Your son is there and things seem to be moving in the right direction for him. You have hit a bump in the road. I'm thinking of you and sending prayers for healing and comfort.

Good morning all! Iโ€™m getting ready for the final

journey home to NJ. It took TEN hours to get to

W VA due to a horrible crash in KY. I am still just

exhausted. Hopefully it wonโ€™t take that long today.

I will return to the forum tomorrow ๐Ÿ’œ

Yes, of course we'd like to hear of your trip to your mechanic!   Those visits can be

quite stressful.

End of life documents are important. I think people don't understand how end of life issues work. I'm referring specifically to the "no resuscitation" form. If paramedics are called in an emergency they'll do everything they can to keep a person alive. If the patient says, "no, I don't want this anymore, I signed the form.."  Their response is, "we can't do that, because by the time we call your doctor or wherever your form is you could have something else happen and be in worse shape, so let's try this first..."  and they give the paddle or meds or whatever it takes to keep the person going. The "do not resuscitate" form is for the very end when the doctors have exhausted all efforts. That's when they ask the patient if they want to be taken off support or medication keeping them alive. I didn't fully realize how it all happened until I saw the process play out firsthand. Definitely not easy to see. And sad to remember. I gained admiration for paramedics who work in chaotic conditions under great stress.

Nicole @SpringIsHereSoHappy , I'm glad your Aetna call went well this time. It is always so satisfying to get a human who has answers and is able to help with issues!

That is a great end of life project that you are working on. It is an important thing to do and your daughter will thank you one day.
