I need to return to walking and strength training this year. The past year or so, life just seemed to get in the way. A major surgery this past year slowed me down also. I know my life will be better in multiple ways if I become more active again.

Getting back to SOME kind of activity is what I should to as well... Walking, hoola hooping are two things that, when I did it I felt better.. Life got in the way over the last 2 years. First my dad was not well and I helped my mother take care of him, doctor appointments, lots of them. Then we lost him last Feb as a matter of fact. Then you've gotta kinda recover for a bit and then mom ends up have 2 surgeries, after some SCARY stuff. I'm still mom's companion for doctor appointments etc, but she's a fighter and doing VERY well. Time to get my health on track. A spa trip would be a really nice beginning or middle or end...Cheers!!!

At 62 I would love to adopt the habit of self care.  My roles as a Health Sciences teacher to high school seniors, nurse for 35 years, skin care specialist , mother, wife is and has been about taking care of others.  I am a very giving person and most often will put the needs of others before myself.  I would love to start to start giving myself the same love and attention that I give to others.  I have finally realize loving yourself is not selfish.  Relaxing and taking care of your self is what the spa life is all about and is the foundation of self care. The opportunity to experience a massage, facial, pedicure and or manicure would start me on my new habit.  Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your contest.

A spa day would be awesome - really appreciate my body and mind, 50's have to be the new 20's.  Aromatherapy to ease the mind, salt scrub to exfoliate, massage to ease aches, pains and burdens - nothing says I love me more than a day at the spa!!

I would love to get over the habit of stress eating, I'm 63 and would like to live a healthier life style. I would also love to have a Spa getaway it sounds relaxing and fun. I've worked so long and never really had a chance to go anywhere for a vacation or just a weekend getaway it would be a treat for me.

I have never been to a spa and would like to experience what I have heard about first hand. Five years ago yesterday (Feb. 7) I experienced a massive heart attack and my doctors are still surprised that I lived through all that followed (kidney failure, pneumonia). This sounds like an experience I could share with my daughter who was with me through it all, even with a job, a husband and three kids at home. The habit that I would like to begin is spending more quality time with my daughter.

Got 2 black labs, walk them everyday. Now that I have grandkids I need extra energy & walking definitely helps me mentally & physically. Grandkids definitely keep you young—we laugh more, we play more & I enjoy seeing life through their eyes. Wonderful!

Overall I eat a healthy diet and I love to eat, so my issue is over eating. I've got to manage portion control.

I tend to play video games when I'm in bed. I know it can effect my sleep, and I would be much better off reading a book or listening to relaxing music.

I really need to cut way back on sweets.  Eating more vegetables is a goal for me. I am pre-diabetic, so this is really important.

I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper!  I love sweets, but only eat them occasionally.  I really need to get a little more exercise just to keep me from sitting around after I get in from my part-time job.  I want to be healthy and still enjoy crafting and time with friends.

I would like to cut back on the amount of television that I watch. I have been reading articles that suggest it is not good for your health. It is very hard.

If there is one habit I need and want to change it is my love of sweets.   I walk 5 days a week, eat healthy 80% of the time and although I have lost almost 30 lbs, I still can't give up the sweets.  My blood sugar so far is being managed with the exercise and diet but that will only last so long.

I had a potentially life threatening condition which I recovered from after having a liver transplant.  Prior to the transplant I intentionally lost a large amount of weight to help my recovery. Recently I have gained some back so I would like to avoid my downfall, the temptation to indulge in sweets and carbohydrates.  I have always wanted to go a spa that would guide me in exercise and diet but have never had the opportunity.

I am not getting any younger and this would be a wonderful opportunity for me now.

3 year ago, I quit my very stressful job. It was a sit down job, I had gained weight and knew I couldn’t enjoy my free time just relaxing. At 63 I decided to start routinely walking at least 3 times a week. I started walking with a longtime girlfriend and we are joined with by another girlfriend. We challenge ourselves to walk longer, further and not just on flat land. Our goal is at least 10,000 steps. I find myself missing our walk due to bad weather, etc. I have lost weight, feel healthier and enjoy our time together. When I go in for my routine checkups, my doctor always praises how healthy I look and my routine tests are coming back great!!!  It’s great to ge told “ you’ve never been healthier!”

Start each day off right by making your bed right after you rise. It will get your blood flowing, oil up those achy arthritic joints, and your bedroom will look great - not only that but you'll get into a freshly made bed every night.

The habit I would like to develop is the gift of volunteering. I am a retired senior and soon to be an empty nester. As a late life parent, all my time has been happily dedicated to my daughter.  My daughter is beginning a new season in her life, but what about me? What will I do with the extra time in this new season of my life? I am very nurturing and I like to help people.  I see that the AARP website is a great resource for volunteer activities. My nest may be empty, but I can still have a full life helping others. I’m now excited about my new season.
