Re: MY POEMS
Enjoy your poetry nearly as much as your episodic statements on your career and travel experiences...so lucky to have such a colorful past to remember with such joy. As mentioned, I too enjoy a variety of outlets in the endless journey to remain meaningful; painting and sculpting, writing historical fiction, "The Other Side of Lincoln," on amazon, and poetry, one of which I share today from my latest effort, "Mea Coffee, Mea Coffee, Mea Maxima Coffee."
THE TROUBLE WITH CATS
SEPARATING my friend’s cat from her favorite post, reminds me of forcing my great-
Grandson, Breyden…an anytime connoisseur of snacks, from his scholarly pursuit of taste.
The trouble I have with cats is they have no idea who rules…except in my dream as a dog!
One might chase them…and they respond by raising hair on end…but in my dream… I was
never fooled by that feline coward for I had perfected the olfactory powers of the canine.
Minnie Moon took refuge under the car…just the right height to offend this aging Lab,
“Where is Reggie the Yorkie,” when I most need him…varmints’ are his game.
Once I dissect the devious and subversive character of Minnie Moon without diminishing
My estimation of myself and my innate ability to hunt and foil feline audacity…knowing
Minnie Moon reserved no awe for the Master, (Yo); she loved to be in his company…
Knowing his attitude about her making her way across the back of the sofa, a Victorian
With no place to walk…so he thought, not being a cat person or understanding cat trapeze’.
Except when remembering at times, the Master can be a dog…transported to this other place,
And within proximity to the Master, when in this state of enlightened aura, where moods
Get darker, and running in circles is as exhilarating, as barking and growling.
Just for Trip…that is his name, when in this altered state, knowing the smell when
Minnie Moon is frightened…the only fear which smells better than rabbit.
Minnie Moon spends her days, seeming to nap as she attempts to part the veil from
The Master’s…one life as a male to the other as a dog!
Barking at the moon, while snipping at worrisome ticks…that fool!
But this afternoon, Minnie Moon is comfortable where she is…dismissing the Master
And letting him know she does not intend to move permitting him to be closer to the fire.
The glow surrounding her…warming her to the core…while the fire lulls her into the false belief
it is but a dream, of this canine, named Trip…who lies yonder, licking his privates.

To my Daughter’s Classmates
I will always treasure and remember with pleasure
Your cheerful, colorful cards—
The showers of flowers
The grass flashing in the sun
The carefree trees
The rainbows aglow
The bouncing butterflies
The bright birds dancing in the sky
The happy fat cat
And the bunches of hearts
Dictator of distaste,
How fluently you spew forth
From your scavenging trade.
Your ill-bred pontifications blight
The laws of sense and silence.
Ollie Ollie Entry
Congratulations on your obfuscations.
Guarded by gibberish
Under executive privilege,
Your mystique camouflaged your mistakes
And mummified the truth.
Engorged by the Fatherland--
Who will be distinguished
When will the blood unclot?
Delicately ridged cliffs of clouds
Whiten, spiral, burst into cauldrons,
Flower into battalions,
Unravel into rivulets,
Disperse and flatten
Into benighted expanses--
Arid, bleak, unchartered.
The love I bear you knows no season,
Devours doubts and incidental lusts.
It devoutly sprouts and encloses
Us in its embrace.
Through waves of salt-stung wind,
A moss-eaten, gnarled runt
Lunged at me, stuttering from his rotted tongue
The debris of his outcast life.
What a waste upon my
Disingenuous, disengaged heart.
The Dirtiest Sham in Town
A morass of assignations,
Equivocal, embedded prey--
Object without subject.
Spring, an Acrostic
Succulent melons willing to drool for
Pasta drenched with semi-sweet sauce
Rice iridescent with Arabian spices
Icing inching towards my palate
Nuggety pudding squiggling in my bowl
Gobs of bacon bubbling with delight.
Some Scholarly Fun
Here is how a pretentious professor might rewrite "twinkle, twinkle, little star..."
Scintillate diminutive stellar presence,
Expatiate on your cosmological essence.
Superseding parameters of terrestrial domain,
Analogous to spangles in the empyrean plain.
