I too have a sizeable "library" at home! I've selected books by the same author, because I either like their writing style, or the subject matter they choose. Years back I liked Harold Robbins & Ayn Rand; exceptions to my usually only liking non-fiction. Now I read a lot of books about health, selected by subject.

I'm always curious as to how many of us pick books by certain authors rather than the book itself.

I'm one who is usually drawn to the authors.  Ken Follett, Phillipa Gregory, Amy Tan, e.g.  However, I also look for books by foreign authors as I find their subjects are not run of the mill.

I have so many books at home waiting to be read that I'm always amazed when someone tells me about reading a book twice.

So many books, not enough time.
