@cd8795 Have you looked at FlexJobs? I understand that they post these positions.

@JGiffordMA Before you spend money on a job coach, you might want to tap into your network to see who you know who is working in the field you are interested in. See if you can meet for coffee and pick their brain about what they are seeing in the field and whether your experience would be a good fit.

@b745718k sounds like you would need to go back to school to become a paralegal. If that's the case, I would discuss your options with the career center at the school. I suggest seeking out a community college to get additional information.

I am wanting to return to the workforce after, being off with a high risk child.

Hello,

My name is Loretta Carwile. I had a very high risk pregancy in 1998. My child had several medical problems after her birth. I did work some at the school system, after she started school, as a para-educator (sub-aide). I was hired after only 4 months of subing. The school system has budget cuts often. I was hired and rehired 4 times. The last time I didn't go back. I wanted to continue my education. I received an associates of Science, December 2015. My daughter was a junior in high school. I knew she would be needing me to make trips to college and I did not want to get a job right then because I would have to take off for her trips. She is now a healthy Sophmore in College and I am trying to get back into the work enviroment. Please someone give me the chance to prove, I am a good worker. I have references that will back that statement.

I have worked in an office for 10 years. I have worked as a teacher's aide for 7 years. I have an associates in Applied Science. I have several certificates including: Receptionist, Data Entry Operator, Integrated Office Skills, Medical Receptionist, Office Assistant, Hospital Admissions Specialist, and Electronic Health Records Specialist.

I am looking for any day shift or at home work.

Finding Yourself through adversity.

Life isn't always a bed of roses, and when it left me with a husband who suffered a stroke, it gave me the ultimate challenge. What next? With a right side severely paralyzed it was hard to move his feet. I didn't realize feet could be so heavy, up until that point in life they had always just moved!

This was the beginning of my now, second career. No, not just as caregiver, though that too, but as an inventor, entrepreneur and general all round "get it done" person.

I took on the challenge of inventing a very simple device to move his feet. The FootLoop, I called it, since that describes it exactly. It had done what nothing else on the market would do for me. It stayed on his foot all day and helped me lift and place his feet precisely when necessary. It has the added benefit of helping him too once he was strong enough to move his feet himself. This little bit of independence can spell big relief for people with limited mobility and their caregivers.

So now I have navigated the waters of invention, so to speak, the patent is pending, website done and the product on the market. Now we are selling them, the Trademark is in progress and viola, I have a second career! Who knew it, it certainly wasn't on my horizon.

Who ever said life was boring? My husband is one of my greatest sale people, pointing out my accomplishment right there on his foot and of course he takes credit for being the reason it is there!

Life may be a bit thorny at times, but the sweet smell of the blooms is well worth the effort.

Second Career

Hi, I had a long career as a market analyst and research director. I am retired now but would like to get back to the workforce. I had often thought of going to law school so I could be an environmental lawyer and am now thinking that maybe an environmental paralegal would be a better option - it's all research and that's what I do. I live in the Dallas area which isn't an pro-environment destination. I am signed up for the career fair tomorrow - would it cover can I find a job in this area at my age? I don't really have any great contact. Not sure where to begin but I'm very sure this is what I want to do. Thanks.
