I retired in 2020 as a Senior Engineer after the company offered a buyout (age 61, 64 in June). Fortunately, we are in position where I do not have to work. Wife is still fulltime so benefits are covered for now. But after two plus years in retirement I found it was time to get up and get out. My local Lowes (about 2.5 miles from here in NJ) was advertising for part time and full time. Was able to schedule an interview for that day and they hired me on the spot for a part time position. $/hr was more than I expected. Was surprised to see how many around my age are working there. Have always been a DIY so it has been a good fit, and you get a discount. Department I am in also makes me do some physical labor (I wanted this), and that has immediately paid dividends for me health wise. Hours can be scattered, but I opted for whatever hours on whatever days.
I too retired at the end of 2022 and am loving it. My life has very little stress now. I suffered from insomnia for the past ten years but now that I am retired I fall asleep before 9 pm. I get plenty of rest now and my thoughts are of daffodils.๐
