Be thankful you don't know why. There are multiple medical conditions where one has to control certain biologic processes to maintain a balance. Diabetes is one of these conditions and probably the easiest to understand. The goal for diabetics is to maintain a level blood sugar level without spikes or dips. Eating sugar will give the diabetic a spike and is reserved for the unexpected, emphasize unexpected, dip. Now consider air travel. Walking long distances between gates, stress of the trip, even good stress is stress, standing on lines at the check-in, at the gate, at TSA Security. Unexpected delays in the airport all add to lower blood sugar. A controlled amount of carbohydrates eaten at intervals helps to raise blood sugar gradually. A diabetic may be perceived as always eating. Diabetes is a hidden or non visible disability. Know before critiquing another's behavior, especially if they are otherwise "normal."

Apparently 2 papa has never been on a very long flight.  I never take food on board for a trip from Los Angeles to New York.

Frankly, the 10 minutes my DSL takes to buffer 3 minutes of video isn't worth it, when a few thousand words would come in and get read and beunderstood within a few dozen seconds. Please remember we're not illiterate, and just give it to us in writing, please. Thanks.

Aside from snacks for the trip, what “souvenir” foods can you take on the plane on a domestic flight? How about on a flight to or from an international destination? AARP Travel Ambassador Samantha Brown has the answers. Watch her video so you won’t be taken by surprise at the security checkpoint.

What's the most unusual food item you've transported by plane?
