Re: Air Travelers Start to Feel Effects of Government Shutdown

Miami has temporarily shut one of their terminals. Granted, it is one of their lowest used and their rate of call-in-sick is higher than other airports. But, may be beginning of a trend(?).

I don't have any immediate plans to fly anywhere, but I am doing trip planning right now for later in the year. I won't book anything until this is settled.

Allan-Are you seriously going to preach integrity in this administration? If all this turmoil and the shutdown continues, we are in for far greater troubles than someone calling into work sick.

Flew Las Vegas to Detroit today. Las Vegas had all security gates staffed & short waits. Very busy due to CES....but all was good with TSA! Thank you!

Thanks for the response GT4865.  Please consider that, in this case, calling in sick will not provide  gasoline in the fuel tank of your car nor will it put food on your table.  Suggest calling in and telling the employer that you will not be in, that you are need money to live on and will be looking for a paying job.    You might ask for a call when funding is available in the case that you have not found employement by then.  .

Maybe they are "sick" and tired of not being paid.  Or sick and tired of a filthy rich president being a bully and using them as pons to get his way.

To "righteous" Allen, what would you do if you live paycheck to paycheck, have no money to put in your car to get to your job or if you have to choose between gas or food?

It would seem to me that an employee who is calling in sick when the employee is not sick is a form of lying.  How would that reflect on the integrity of of your employee?

Air Travelers Start to Feel Effects of Government Shutdown

Message 10 of 10

The partial government shutdown is starting to affect air travel. Some airports are experiencing long lines at checkpoints, apparently caused by a rising number of security officers calling in sick while they are not getting paid. (Read more...)

How are you preparing for potential delays?
