I'm surprised no one's posted yet about the finale! I intended to watch, but forgot that it was just a recap at 8 pm .. and by 9 pm I fell asleep early on! First thing this morning, when I logged on to the PC, I checked the results. I wasn't surprised about Bryn winning, but I was surprised that Britton was #2; I thought it would have been Spensha.

They're not wasting any time starting "America's Got Talent" right away! Do you watch that too?

I just realized right before I saw @ASTRAEA's post that I forgot to put in my two cents. I was out for a hair appointment, stopped to pick up some plants for outside, and then had to unclog a sink, do laundry, and I have no idea where the rest of the day went.

So…I was not surprised at the outcome. I thought they would be the last two standing, but thought winner and runner-up would be reversed. I really had not lost hope with Spensha though. I think Blake will do right by her and Kyla and get the ball rolling for them.

Must be a feather in Kelly’s cap to have the winner her first time as a coach.

I enjoyed the night’s performances by this season’s artists, and think they could do without all the “outside” talent. Like who the heck is Dua Lipa? Looked like she was wearing a belted diaper.

Then there was Florence and the Machine. I liked the song, but boy is she weird!

Halsie and Big Shawn? Not even sure I have their names spelled correctly.

I did like Jason Aldean, though!

Hoping next season has no new gimmicks and lots of talent!

As for AGT, I usually watch some of it depending on what else is on at the same time. N.

Well no surprises I guess.  I didn’t watch a lot of it.

I wish they they would have a season where the coaches could ask back all the members of their team from previous members. I hope they get rid of the block and maybe even the saves for one season. Really do some different things.  Some change is needed to even things out.

Oh well. I will be back to watching the next season.

Thankfully Survivor never disappoints!

What about you?  Biggest change you would like to see?

@nyadrn - I would like to see them apportion time a lot differently ..

- I'd like them to stop having 1st & 2nd class contestants; EVERYONE's audition & performances would have to be broadcast!

- I'd like to see much more of the contestants with their coaches & mentors, learning & rehearsing .. and almost no time allocated to (AKA "wasted") on other "celebrity performers". If I wanted to see the latter, I'd get their videos or go to their shows.

- I'd also like to cut down Carson's pregnant pauses after "America saved .."; over the course of a season, that probably adds up to an hour's worth of time to see more of the artists!

Looks like I'm late to the party, also!  Not really any surprises at the outcome. I had the show taped so I could FF through parts that I didn't care to see, like some of the celebrity artists I don't even know.

I did enjoy all of the ensembles with finalists and former contestants, and the finalists paired with a pro. I also liked Alicia with James Bay, and Jason Aldean. Florence was okay (weird but okay), and maybe one other that I can't recall (ha!).

They make such a big deal out of biographies. In some cases, I think that some are selected for audition b/c they have either a heartwarming or heartbreaking story to tell.  It is wonderful that there are people wanting to compete that have overcome obstacles, even tragedies, but I don't think that's the reason to vote them through. I would rather they choose the best competitors and just give us a little background, whatever it is. Once they show the bio, I got it, and don't need to see it over and over. If people want to see bios, the show should put them on their website.

I do hope they take out some of the gimmicks, like the first rounds of twitter only voting, the block, and the save. I think the coaches should have to deal with the choices they make. I don't mind the steals since it does keep some talent on the show that deserves to be there. And also, I agree with @ASTRAEA - everyone should have their full performances aired.

@catwoman500 - Dua Lipa was one performer I did see, but I had no idea who she was either! I did read this:

"Dua Lipa is an English singer, songwriter, and model. Her musical career began at age 14, when she began covering songs by other artists on YouTube. In 2015, she signed with Warner Music Group and released her first single soon after. In December 2016, a documentary about Lipa was commissioned by The Fader magazine, titled See in Blue."

Maybe they had her because her career started so young too.

I watched "Little Women" last night .. not the Billboard Awards show; I thought there was a 3rd episode, but apparently it was only the 2 .. so it's over now.

I had a very long day Saturday .. a meeting 90+ miles from home, with rain the entire drive there, leaving home at 6:30 AM! As secretary, I was busy again yesterday doing minutes .. but was totally side-tracked right after breakfast, when one of the feral cats caught a small rabbit. I spent the whole morning reaching out to rehabbers, and then finding him where he'd hidden in a safe room in which I'd put him! I made it thru "Little Women", but fell asleep about 5 minutes into the follow-up documentary about Louisa May Alcott!

The season finale  -  Certainly not the best ever, and I didn't expect that it would be. I suspect after all the hoopla that Brynn will emerge as the winner. Here are my takeaways from the evening.

Spensha was my favorite of the evening. I liked all three of her songs, and I think that she had her best evening of the competition. She gets my first place vote. It sounds like Blake is going to get her onto the country stage regardless of outcome, so still a win for her.

Kyla has a wonderful voice, her duet with Blake was lovely, and I especially liked her new song. But her opening cover song just went over the top. It started out well, but went out of control. Nevertheless, Blake is right, she does have the best voice in the competition.

Britton's performances just didn't work for me. The new song that he wrote was nice, but not his best effort. His cover really rocked, but all the running around the stage was distracting, and the song wasn't especially a great one to cover. But the duet with Alicia was the most disappointing. Their voices didn't blend well and Britton was off at times. I kept waiting for the big finish. The fans were ready to clap and there was anticipation that they would go into full blown Avicii mode, but that didn't happen, and it becomes a missed opportunity.

Which brings me to Brynn, who I believe is most likely to win. Her original song was well done, and her cover of Skyfall was pretty good. I didn't care much for the duo with Kelly, but still a good song. She has a mature voice for a 15-year-old, but still has room to grow and should improve with time. She has all the makings of a pop star, and that is likely to give her the win.

@catwoman500 - I agree, no need to see "highlights" either. They do have quite a guest list lined up to entertain us until the final moments "reveal".

5/21 Finale part 1, Top 4

Last night each of the 4 artists had three performances: a cover, and original, and a duet with their coach. So here is what I thought:

Kyla was first with a cover of Get By with a little Help from my Friends. Yikes, she was powerfully good! Her original piece, The Last Tear was great also. I didn’t like the duet, Only Love with Blake.

Britton’s original song, Where You Come From, written in Chemistry class, needed a lot more chemistry for me. In the duet with Alicia, Wake Me Up, he sounded better than Alicia. And his rendition of Good Lovin’ was loads of fun!

Brynn and Kelly’s duet of Don’t Dream It’s Over was nice. Her original, co-written with Julia Michaels, Walk My Way, was a great song. And her cover of Skyfall was a good choice, too.

Spensha’s cover of Merry Go Round was a very good choice for her. I liked it. Her duet with Blake, Tell Me About It was better than his duet with Kyla. And her original, Old Soul, was perfect.

I gave Spensha 10 votes, Kyla and Brynn 8 votes. I can’t even predict what may happen tonight after 3 hours of spinning before we get to the last seconds when the winner is named. I’m not even sure I want to watch the 8:00-9:00 rehash, I mean “highlights” show. N.

I wish I could generate more enthusiasm for the style of these shows, but they all seem to become overinflated, and drag out the results as long as possible. As a few people mentioned, this isn't "my kind of music" in general, but I enjoy watching the artists grow. So I don't feel like watching previous winners/contestants perform, and then hear the results of the current competition in the last 15 seconds, while they've already got the credits rolling.

5/14 show Lives, Top 8

So last night each artist had a single performance and a duet. I liked the duets better than the solo performances.

I loved 3 of duets, but not Brynn’s and Britton’s. Brynn who was my number 2 artist just didn’t have it for me last night in either of her performances.

Kaleb and Pryor were paired well, Kyla and Spensha…OMG! What a duo they made. And I even liked Jackie and Rayshun.

The solos…IMHO…Jackie’s solo was OK .I didn’t like Rayshun’s version of Imagine, Kaleb was not at his best in his solo, Pryor was so fine, and Britton was OK.

BUT…Spensha and Kyla were absolutely AMAZING! Spensha has now moved up to my number 2 spot behind Pryor. Those 2 gave it their all last night. I sure hope America agrees.

Hard to believe we'll be down to 4 by tonight.

Once again I forgot to vote until this morning.  Cat Tongue N.

Honored Social Butterfly

@catwoman500 - I forgot to vote, also. I had recorded the show and was too tired to stay up and watch, or maybe it's just lack of interest for this season.

My favorite solos were Britton, Pryor, Kyla, and Spensha. They all sang songs that were believable and right in their artistical bailiwicks, so to speak. Kyla singing Let It Be (one of my favorite songs) was just magnificent!

For duets, I liked Kyla and Spensha. Whoever came up with the arrangement of those two songs was really brilliant. I also enjoyed Jackie and Rayshun, they rocked! Britton and Brynn (sounds like twins!), were a nice pairing, but I didn't care for the song arrangement - sounded like any other "pop" song. Pryor and Kaleb were also well paired but I hated that stupid song. Oh well . . . maybe I'm just getting old and cranky!

Drum roll please . . . . and the finalists are - Spensha, Brynn, Kyla, and Britton.

I'm not too surprised at the outcome, I just never expected Britton to be in the twitter-off. Britton and Brynn seemed to be the two most popular, and both consistently at the top of iTunes, including this week. I figured both of them would be voted through. Not surprised that Britton won the twitter save, however, and I'm glad he will be a finalist.

Any surprises for you?

@MaVolta...Surprises? Yeah…my number one is done…Pryor! Boo Hiss! I had figured he would win the whole shebang.

I figured Brynn and Britton would be safe and in my mind will now be the last 2 standing. Reminds me of that American Idol season when the 2 young kids were the last standing. Both were country. The girl was Lauren Alaina and the boy with the deep voice, Scotty something. Lauren is finally coming into her own in country. Just won some country award. OK…Googled that. It was American Idol Season 10, 2011. Scotty McCreery won and Lauren was runner-up.

The youth vote has so much power! I have a feeling Britton will win and Brynn will be runner up.

HOWEVER…I was THRILLED that Spensha and Kyla are in the finals! Wahoo! With Pryor gone, Spensha has moved into my #1 spot. Spensha was so surprised when her name was called first last night. I was so happy for her. I’m glad Kyla is finally getting validation for all that she has done in the industry.

As for the entertainment last night...Not sure I like this Cane Brown guy. Panic at the Disco (is that the name of that group?) was kind of fun, and of course Blake was perfection for me. Cat Wink N.

@catwoman500 - Yeah, I hated to see Pryor go, too, but really happy for Spensha and Kyla. Kyla especially deserves to be there. I'm not sure what would happen if all 3 of Team Blake made the finals. I think that might be a case where the producers would get involved.

I agree, I think that Britton and Brynn will be the final two. Brynn seems to have the largest fan base, but I think that Britton has the better voice. Toss up. Or maybe they actually choose the best singer, and in my mind, that would be Kyla. I also like Spensha and have been a fan since day 1.

Well I have been reading your comments but I just cannot get into this season.  Pretty obvious reasons.

I did not like the blocks or the extra saves..  I am unhappy with Adam's choices.. I think he tried to get a country artist and hoped they would be more successful with the voters but the ones he picked were not as good in my opinion as some he let go.   Don't like the format and tired of the voting blocks.  Wow  I guess I am tired  LOL   Hope next season is different !

I think my favorite to win is  Britton but I doubt he will win.

Given all of the negative comments made about this season, I sure hope that the producers rethink their strategy (if there is one). I don't think I'd make it through another season like this one. I'll watch the finale, but not excited about it by any means.

This season, the coaches seemed "rushed" to fill their teams. They just didn't seem as picky as they had been in other seasons.  Maybe it was the grind of the auditions, or maybe the talent wasn't well vetted this time. Who knows? I hope they can fix it.

@MaVolta, @nyadrn, @ASTRAEA, I agree with all of you. I'm almost glad this season is ending! I'm thinking it was the least talented season of them all. I know I'll be back for the beginning of the next season, but if things don't look like there is a change, I'll be saying, "Adios!" N.

I guess since it has won several Grammys they wanted to keep it fresh but something was just off.  Next season Alisha will be gone and JHud will be back. I will miss Alisha.

😖

but guess what.  90 Day Fiancée starts a new season tonight. That is always good for some laughs.

@nyadrn - I prefer Alicia to JHud any day; seemed it was all about JHud when she was on the last time. I guess they're all encouraged to have their own shtick, but she seemed pompous to me.

Kelly Clarkson is hosting the Billboard Music Awards tonight .. anyone watching? I'll stick to PBS; there's a documentary about Louisa May Alcott, after "Little Women" tonight.

I'm not a fan of those fast romance/get married shows; I'd like to know how many of them actually stay together!

I might catch some of the Billboard Awards and some of the 90 Day Fiancée. That is not a serious show. Or at least I don’t think so.  Good for some laughs.  I doubt any of them stay married. 🤣

Oh, darn, I'm going to miss Alicia! Jennifer's ego seemed to be too overpowering when she coached. Are there anymore changes in coaches? Assuming Adam and Blake will return...who is the 4th coach?

I agree on JHud.  Kelly is staying so she is the 4th judge.

90 Day Fiancé is a pretty crazy show about people who marry people from other countries and all kinds of crazy problems but it is not a serious program.  More like Bravo shows.

Oh, good, glad Kelly is staying. That should be interesting though. Kelly's exuberance was complemented by Alicia's quiet thought processes, and they seemed to get along really well. Not sure how the two bombastic personalities are going to gel. Cat Surprised N.

I agree with you all. Sorry to hear that Alicia will be replaced by JHud next season. I sorta dread the thought of having two former AI stars for coaches who we all know have "been in their shoes". And speaking of shoes . . . back to shoe throwing again? . . . ughhh! But I really do like Adam and Blake, even with some of their silly stunts.

90 Day Fiance, that's a new one on me! I've never been into reality shows. The Voice has been an exception. I don't like America's Got Talent because some of the acts are just plain weird. Maybe I'll give Idol a shot next time. I'm in it for the music because I just love music and there aren't that many music shows except what I find on AXS-TV.

I did watch the first part of Billboard Awards, but not really my thing.

It makes you question whether you even want to watch or not, when you read that the producers can disregard all their own rules, when it comes to voting a contestant off the show, or saving them!
