SSA spousal benefits

Do you have to contact SSA to change from spousal benefits to your own when you turn 70 or does SSA do this automatically if you own benefit is higher than spousal?

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s going to be automatically changed by the SSA. You will have to file an application.
