Oh goodness!  Those of us collecting such benefits will not be effected.  Rather, the government is trying to save these benefits by restructuring the programs for people who are younger,  I might suggest that being instructed by some to vote for the Democrats is not the best idea, for many reasons.

An employee has NOTHING withheld from their pay for unemployment taxes - neither at the state or federal level - the EMPLOYER pays ALL Unemployment taxes for their employees with the amount of the tax assessed based on the wages of the employee.  But the employer pays it all; nothing is deducted from the employee check for unemployment taxes.

Employer Liability for Unemployment Taxes

Let's say a person applies for their Old Age Social Security benefit and begins to draw it.  Then they decide to go back to work while still drawing their Old Age SS benefit at the same time.  Subsequently they are layed off for some reason - they just go back to being retired and may not even look for another job - so are they really unemployed?

It is my understanding that if they become unemployed 1st , begin to get their Unemployment benefit and then they file for their Old Age SS benefit - and receive it, their unemployment stops.

You need to stop drinking the kool aid FOX, Infowars and Breitbart are feeding you about the “liberal media” so they can cover up what is really going on.

This is from Forbes. This is a conservative financial magazine. Do your homework before you discount anything. Wake up!

What cuts to Medicare?

The budget proposal gives ONLY another optional private coverage CHOICE to seniors of how they get their coverage - everything else remains the same.

The only change to Social Security is to prevent those who are drawing their Old Age benefit and still working will not qualify for unemployment benefits.

Do you not think that employers think about this in the back of their mind when an elderly person is applying for a job?

Plus if less than FRA, the SS benefit is reduced by other income, counting unemployment benefits.

Many states already reduce any unemployment benefit if the receipient is already drawing Social Security old age benefit.

Taxation, state and / or federal, overall or just on their Social Security benefit, can also affect them adversely.

To me, it seems like drawing an old age Social Security insurance benefit and Unemployment insurance benefit at the same time is an oxymoron.

Which came 1st the chicken or the egg - filing early for an old age benefit is not a decision to be taken lightly because it will continue to reduce the benefit for the rest of a person's life and after is there is a widow benefit paid.

If a person of Social Security old age, early or not, is laid off and begins drawing an unemployment insurance benefit, if they apply and receive their Social Security  old age benefit - the unemployment should be stopped.

IF you dont want cuts to your Medicare and Social Security - " Vote Democrat in November " or you shall feel the pain. The Wealthy enjoy their Republican Tax Cuts while  our Struggling Senior's and Disabled are going to be asked to do with less !!!

When does the Greed at the top stop ?

Neither Trump or Republicans will cut Medicare or SS. Medicaid is a maybe since it is not paid for. Don't believe anything you read in the Washington Post!
