Incremental Payment of Social Security when starting between age 68 and 69

I am starting Social Sec at 68 and 10 months.  On the Soc Sec graph at 68 I would have received (this is an example) say $2700 and at 69  say $3000. When I took it at 68 and 10 months I am still only receiving the $2700 amount.  I thought I would get $2700 + the incremental difference, in this case $2700 + $250 (the difference $300 / 0 months) . I called 5 different people at Soc. Sec and was finally told by someone in my local office that the incremental difference would be made up when I turn 69. Does anyone know if this is correct? I am trying to determine if I need to challenge Soc Sec on the amount or cancel it and wait 2 months to turn 69.

Thanks

Here is your answer, straight from the Social Security Administration

  SSA.gov - Delayed Retirement Credits

copy & pasted from the link so others can also read it:

Your initial benefit amount will reflect delayed retirement credits earned from your full retirement age through the year before your 69th birthday. In January of the following calendar year, your benefit will increase for the credits earned in the year of your 69th birthday.“
