I am 63 and still working part time and collecting social security. I went over my earnings limit for one month due to s bonus I received. However , I am still under the yearly limit of $19560. Will my check be held or benefits be reduced due to that one month?
Thanks
NO, not for just one month out of the year; especially for something like a bonus which you might get at the end of the year - but if it pushes you over the yearly limit, that's when the SSA starts deducting from your SS benefit check.
You do need to report it if you go over the yearly earnings limit until the year that you reach FRA - then the amount changes to a higher amount and the deduction is less.
Have you looked at the Social Security web site and checked there?
