BCBS FEHP opting out Medicare and disable individuals from their prescription drug program

BCBS FEHP has decided to opt out individuals who have BCBS Medicare A and B from their prescription drug program without their permission. This includes only the disable and elderly who are on Medicare A and B.  In my opinion this is not a better option for these individuals, and they have to call a phone number which is 1-833--88-338-7737 (TTY:711) to say they want to opt out to stay on the BCBS prescription drug plan.  This does not give you both!!!  It's one or the other so please make sure you or your family members want to switch.

I am not even sure if this is legal as it relates to HIPPA laws and I have never heard of a company opting people into another plan that is not theirs when theirs still exists.  WHY would they do that????

Please get the word out.

I don’t know if they have a choice not to do this cause I think legislation (Inflation Reduction Act) has orchestrated this change to give this coverage - I can only guess the motivation but my guess is to get more money into the Medicare prescription drug program
