Fake mail and phone scam

I know a lady who says she received mail from AARP that they were about broke and needed some money.  She is very elderly and may not have understood what she received.  Anyway she sent some money and is not getting more mail and calls asking for more money.  I suspect someone has faked mail to look like AARP mail.  Any one can fake very official letters that have nothing with the organization they are reporting to be.  If you are elderly the best policy is to give no none nothing.
