Especially during uncertain times, scammers are using headlines as opportunities to steal money or sensitive personal informationWhether they’re selling phony treatments for the coronavirus or sending out fake Census messages, it’s more important than ever that you remain vigilant.

@RichardmJ116362 Those are most likely scams, so deleting them is the best course of action. Most government agencies will always contact you first by postal mail. It's hard to stop any junk mail, because the scammers are pros at working around the SPAM filters. Depending on your email providers you can move that email to "junk" or SPAM and that will help the email providers block key words they use and hopefully will prevent you from receiving more. Junk emails are annoying, but easy to just trash and delete! And while on the subject of emails, we know there are some Coronavirus scams right now where folks are getting emails with the title Up to date New Virus Information for your City with a link to click on. Do NOT click on the link, these emails contact Malware and are infecting computers. Delete and Trash. Stay safe everyone!

Good morning everyone, hope everyone is doing ok and staying safe. In case you didn't get a chance to listen to it live, AARP hosted a TeleTown Hall with some excellent speakers about the Coronavirus and all the scams we are seeing in regards to it. As we know scammers will follow the headlines and they are thinking of new ways to steal your money. Whether they try to trick you into giving money to a sham charity or try to sell you magic cures, we need to stay safe and learn the red flags.
