What Are Your Favorite Movie Themes?
I thought about posting a movie theme under favorite instrumentals, but then, there are so many!! So, how about a topic for posting your favorite movie themes and soundtracks? And you don't have to pick just one. Name as many as you like.

There are a lot of good choices, so I will offer an unusual one. This is from "Show Boat" 1936. The singer is Helen Morgan who plays Julie LaVerne, a woman who has been yanked from the Show Boat because she has "Negro blood." She becomes an alcoholic. In real life, Helen Morgan also suffered from severe alcoholism and lost the battle at the age of 41. The pathos in this clip is, I believe, unforgettable.

I'm going way, way back now to 1940. ONE MILLION B.C. starring Victor Mature, Carole Landis and Lon Chaney Jr. The score itself garnered a nomination for "best" at the Academy Awards. Why is it so appealing? To me it fits the notion of a romantic prehistoric world, leaving out the violence that we associate with this period in time. As a second choice, perhaps not technically considered a film"music score" would be the 1950 filming of the opera THE TALES OF HOFFMANN, starring Moira Shearer and Robert Rounseville.

Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet - Nino Rota, composer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCmUWNUzaqo (movie soundtrack)
The Henry Mancini arrangement is probably the best known version, and won him the Grammy for Best Arrangement (Instrumental or A Cappella) in 1970. It was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in 1969. No surprise that it went to #1 for eight weeks on the Easy Listening chart.
