WILL THEY BE LIKE A LONG TIME MARRIED COUPLE? RIP CHARLIE WATTS.....
My second favorite band of all time lost one of their integral parts, drummer Charlie Watts. He had been the drummer for the Rolling Stones since 1963. His cowbell on Honky Tonk Woman still resonates in my ears.
I hope this is not the beginning of a cycle of old people being heartbroken.
Just this week, I saw an obit of a couple who had been married 70 years. The husband had passed and there was his obit..... then next to his obit was his wife's obit. She had died days later and the reason for death, according to the family, was a broken heart due to the loss of her husband days before. It wasn't the first time I had seen dual obits with the same circumstances.
The Stones have been together almost 60 years.
I hope that their "marriage" for so long doesn't portend more bad news to come.

I read a lot of rock biographies, and those who have been around this long have all experienced grief. They have lost close friends, band mates, family members, including parents and children. They all have dealt with grief in their own way, but they were determined to carry on. They found a way to release those emotions through their music, and often just going on with the show. Most often, that special person is memorialized in songs. I expect that Jagger and Richards will do no less for their dear friend and bandmate. It would not surprise me at all to hear such a tribute during their next tour. The Stones’ management have already announced that the fall tour will resume on schedule. That’s just the way that rock world rolls.

Jagger/Richards did the bulk of the
songwriting for the Stones. I don’t
believe Charlie ever sang from what
I saw and read. He did, however,
double as the designer of their
record sleeves and their tour stages.
I always thought all their album covers
were incredible 🎼💜

The Stones formed in 1962, when I was 6
years old. I’ve literally loved and listened
to them my entire life. Charlie was the
backbone of the group for sure. Where
they go without him remains to be seen.
None of them are getting any younger.
As for your sad story about the couple
who died days apart, there is a real thing
called “Broken Heart Syndrome” The
symptoms are those of a heart attack but
it’s caused by sudden physical or
emotional stress. I’ve heard of other couples
dying minutes or hours apart. Debbie
Reynolds died the day after her daughter
Carrie Fisher. She’s just one example.
Thank you for sharing 😢🙏

Agreed, NC! Although RS was my least favorite band back then, Charlie Watts was one of the top three drummers of all time, imho... his inspiration, dedication and loyalty will always be important and I think most of us from that gen owe him a great debt to our gen of music, and beyond! He was one of the finest in music ever!

Who would you designate as the top three drummers of all time?
