Right now I am listening and watching a blu ray of Joe Bonamassa Live from the Beacon Theatre.  Man o man, this kid is GOOD !  He has the soulfulness of the late great Gary Moore, the bluesiness of Clapton, The blinding speed of Malmstein, and the slide skill of Ry Cooder !  I highly recommend this kid ....

Thank you for the post   I always enjoy hearing new artists that I am not familiar with!!

I am listening to

Rocket 88 1951-60 R&B and Rock & Roll Sides

Ike Turner cuts "Rocket 88," a song many consider the first Rock nโ€™ Roll record. Three months later it tops the R&B chart. 1951

Great new artist Jason Mraz. I especially like his song "I won't give up." Very uplifting -- in fact most of the songs I have heard are positive!

Studio album by Melissa Etheridge

The single Bring Me Some Water -

Melissa Etheridge wrote the song after the initial version of her debut album was rejected by the recording company, which left her only four days to provide new material and a modified edition of the album. At the time, she was residing in Los Angeles while her girlfriend, Kathleen, lived elsewhere, so Etheridge had reluctantly agreed to make theirs a non-monogamous relationship. The song tells about the pain and jealousy arising from thoughts of her lover being intimate with someone else. There are many metaphors in the lyrics describing her emotional state, principally the chorus line: "Somebody bring me some water - can't you see I'm burning alive." Many other songs on the album deal with the same subject.

IN MEMORY BON SCOTT

Released on 25 July 1980, Back in Black was the first AC/DC album recorded without former lead singer Bon Scott, who died on 19 February at the age of 33, and was dedicated to him. The band considered disbanding following his death, but they ultimately decided to continue, with encouragement from Scott's parents, and shortly thereafter hired Brian Johnson as their new lead singer and lyricist. Producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who had previously worked with AC/DC on Highway to Hell, was again brought in to produce. The album was recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, and Electric Lady Studios in New York, where the album was also mixed.

While nothing compares to the music of the 60s and 70s, I occasionally find new music of the present day that really is refreshing. Two such examples would be these recently released albums...

Turquoise ... Devon Allman (son of Gregg) Great blues rock

The Lone Bellow .... The Lone Bellow  (great harmony by this trio)
