WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO?
A PLACE TO SHARE YOUR FAVORITE SONGS AND VIDEO'S ...
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO? AN OLD OLD SONG BY YOUR FAVORITE BAND OR SOMETHING NEW YOU JUST HEARD... YOUR IPOD CATALOG OF FAVORITES OR YOUR FAVORITE CD BY YOUR FAVORITE BAND.. WHATEVER IT IS, STOP BY AND SHARE IT HERE, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IT : )
Hi everyone. I'm new around here, and I'm still learning to navigate, but I thought I would give this a try. I play music, so when I saw there was a group called Rock n Roll, I just kind of jumped in. I got a nice welcome note from nyadrn too! This past week I've been listening to one of my favorite Porcupine Tree albums called "In Absentia". I couldn't figure out a way to post an mp3 on here, so I dug up a you tube link to a song called "Drown With Me" which wasn't on the album as it was originally released in America, but is now included on the bonus "B" disc.

Enjoy...Malcolm

another good newer artist is Leona Lewis. Such a beautiful voice

On his first album If I had Wings is a beautiful song. On that I also like History in the Making. His new CD just came out. The only song I have heard is The Comeback Song which is quite snappy

Sounds like you had a good day of listening there. I cannot say I have listened to Darius Rucker solo. Do you have a couple of favorite songs to check out?
I like Duffy... her Warwick Avenue went right to my ipod : ) thanks!

Tulsa finally named a street after Leon, and I got to attend the ceremony last night just a week before he returns to town along with Elton John. Below is a link for a petition to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to request that they induct Leon Russell. Watch the video and you'll know he deserves this honor. Leon is still rockin, and my granddaughter became a Leon fan after going to his Birthday Bash this past April.
Thanks to any who sign. It's safe and easy. I'm #3080, a Leon-Lifer, glenda.

i had my Darius Rucker CD going. Loved his voice and missed him between Hootie and now. Wasn't sure he would be believable as a country singer but i could listen to his music all day.
if you are looking for something newer try Duffy who has a raspy 60's kind of voice(to me). nothing trashy but good music.

Hey labguy,
Welcome back to the group. Missed hearing from you. Hope you stick around. I'm not on here as much either since they changed the format and sometimes life gets in the way but I try to check in every now and then. Anyway, it's always good to see you here.

Hey D,
Though I have many CD's here at home to listen to I'm always looking for more music. Went to the library this past weekend and came home with quite a collection. Two Stevie Ray Vaughan's, some old blues music by Tampa Red and Son House, soundtrack from the U.S. vs. John Lennon, Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Night Castle" and Ringo Starr's All Star Band Anthology. Also checked out some Richard and Linda Thompson but wasn't crazy about it. Richard used to play for Fairport Convention. Loving the blues lately. Went to see my friend Larry's band play last Saturday night. Some great Texas blues. He plays a lot of Stevie Ray's stuff.
Sunny but windy today. Still have some yard work to finish up. Going to bake some pumpkin muffins this afternoon.

cold front comin down this week...gonna be in the high 60's to low 70's.
I think you would like the Sanibel/Captiva area. Stayed at a place, the rooms were 1/2 off Sunday-thurs nites and 30% off Fri and Sat nites, From 8/1-10/31.. they call it a LOW SEASON special. I saved lots of $$$$. gave me more $ to eat and drink

Hey labguy
I think all of us feel stuck sometimes... I have watched VH1 classics and Behind the Music shows of my favorite bands so many times I can't count them. It actually takes work to find new music that I like. It is one of the things that I like about the group... hearing about music I am not familiar with.
Meanwhile, still down in the fun and sun of Florida eh: ) I am still looking for a nice place to retire to or at least go to in the winter months and the good news is every month brings me closer : )
Take care and take care of that tan. Nice to hear from You!
Diane

my ipod is filled with everything from Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald right on thru the Black Eyed Peas and Carrie Underwood. Anything that isn't alternative or heavy metal is good to me.

Hi J
Boy do you believe that storm yesterday!! You are right about the leaves, they are all blown around again. Only too soon we will be getting the really fall weather. It has been really mild so far.
Hard to believe that the year is drawing to a close. Boy lots of things happened this year. Your concerts will be great! You are doing a terrific job of representing at these concerts.
November Rain is definately appropriate along with Autumn Leaves...can't share any music now. Will have to do that later : )

Hi D
Two more concerts left for the year. "Dawes" in November and "REO Speedwagon" in December. I'm really looking forward to that one. They are going to do the entire "Hi-Infidelity" album.
Good choice with the Mamas and Papas song. Rainy and windy here today. We're under a tornado watch until 11 a.m. and high winds until Wednesday. All the leaves I raked are back on the lawns again. It's almost November so I'm thinking of Guns 'n Roses "November Rain."

Hi J
Glad to see you are still out there seeing those live shows and sharing the music !!
It's a beautiful fall day here in Ohio.. leaves just starting to turn, cool in the evenings but still nice in the day time. Thinking about the coming winter and so I am remembering my vacation with a little California Dreaming : )

That would have been fun. This is the second time we've seen this band and both times were at this small intimate venue. Tickets were only $25.00. A real deal in this day and age.

Hi Glenda,
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Here's one from the band they opened up for (Siegel-Schwall Blues Band). That's Corky Siegall on keyboards (also one of the best harmonica players I've ever seen), Jim Schwall on guitar on the right and Rollo on the other guitar. That's the legendary Sam Lay on drums and vocals. He played with Howlin' Wolf for 6 or 7 years before joining the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. He also was backed up Bob Dylan on drums when Bob went electric. Enjoy!

Listening to Paul Thorn. His band was the opening act for the Siegel-Schwall Band this past Saturday night and I became an instant fan.

It is great! What a combination of those two tremendous artists.. and as unlikely a pairing as I can think of : ) Thanks again.

Isn't it a gem? My mom and dad used to play it by I don't remember who. But thank you too Diane. I had no idea it was on youtube with video! I just found the audio somewhere for downloading a few years back, and thought what an interesting combination-those 2 artists doing that song. What a treat to get to watch too.
