Songs for a Beatles covers playlist
I recently put together a playlist with some of my favorite cover songs. In the process, I noticed that quite a few were Beatles covers. Not really surprising since so many artists and bands from various genres have covered them these 50-odd years! Yesterday alone has been covered more than any song in music history, with well over 3k. Funny, but I don’t have a single one in my library! Well, time to change that.
So, I thought I would do a playlist with Beatles only covers. What songs are your favorites? Which songs would you add? If you also want to add Beatle solo covers, that’s okay too. Add a link if you like.
This is a long time favorite because this has been my favorite band, second only to The Beatles. It also shows a lot of originality. John liked it too. He said it was meant to be a ballad, but he had to make it upbeat for the movie. The song is …

OMG! That’s my #1 Beatles song so I’ve been looking for a great version of it. That’s perfect! Thanks @Raynyky .
I did find one by Jose Feliciano that’s pretty good, but it will go on the “encore” list. 😎

Billy Joel’s version of A Hard Days Night is on my list. Right now I have Chubby Checker doing this one. It’s beginning to look like I will need an “Encore” list for my duplicates! 😎

Cheap Trick did a lot of surprisingly good Beatles covers. I really like "When I'm 64" .

Oh, I love Cheap Trick! I’m adding that one to my list. And probably gonna use their version of A Day In The Life.

Strawberry Fields Forever - Candyflip
This is another artist that I don’t know. They were a 90’s British pop group, and this song went to #5 in the UK. It is also in my Beatles top ten, so it has to be good. The Beatles had pulled out all the stops in the studio to record, so it took a lot of creativity on their part to get it to work. I especially like what they did with the percussion. The Beatles had some of the drum track played backwards, not to mention the changing tape speed. Well done! I like it! 👏

While my guitar gently weeps, Tom Petty,
Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Prince and
Dhani Harrison
Tribute to George from 2004 at the Rock Hof.
Amazing talent on this song. Watching Dhani
is like watching a young George. The best
part is the Prince guitar solo. It’s a must watch

I’ve Just Seen A Face - Michael Packer & Free Beer
This song lands somewhere in my Beatles top ten, so they’d better be good, right? I never had heard of this band, but it was a pleasant surprise to find it. The band was apparently a Chicago Blues band in the 70’s, but this has more of a folk-country vibe to it. When it started to play, I was sorta, meh, but kept listening. And then played it again ( and again, and again …) Very nicely done! I absolutely love it! 💛💫😎

@BeatleloverKT - I tend to prefer covers that are done in the style of the artist. But then, one has to like the style of the artist to begin with!

Part of my mission was to find the best cover version of Yesterday. The minute I heard this one, the search was over. Plus I found another gem in the process. (This guy really liked to sing Beatle songs.)

Although the best is the originals, I like these versions.

@Vexed - Hey, no problem! It’s definitely worth repeating!! 😎
I also love their Exposition / We Can Work It Out. I probably have played those old Mk 1 albums more than Machine Head!

An interesting topic, @MaVolta ! Thanks for thinking of it!
The only Beatles appreciation I ever had was in John Lennon; I don't know why, but at 14, he was "the one" in my mind...
I enjoyed their music but was more a jazz-rock-blues person (Jimi and Janis and Jim).
Then we lost Jimi...
Then we lost Janis...
Then we lost Jim...
And then the Beatles were no longer.
I've loved and listened to George's and Ringo's and John's music daily; I will never listen to "sir" paul's solo **bleep** as it is just that (imho)...
again, imho

@WebWiseWoman - If we all liked the same thing, it would be a pretty boring world! So maybe you might like this one that Jimi did just two days after it was released.
