Songs for Mother's Day
So we have Father's Day covered in one topic, which is June 17th, so we'd better get busy with a list for Mother's Day which is right around the corner on May 13th!!
Songs about mom, mama, or even a song for mom . . .

A bit off the beaten path, and by a guy you probably wouldn't expect to write a song about his mom....
John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers
CD: Blues For The Lost Days (pretty good album)
One In A Million
You can check it on YouTube
Enjoy (and I wish my mom was still around to share this with)

"Angels"
Started talking about politics, religion, love and life
And what a shame it was about 9/11
And what about hell and what about heaven
And is there or isn't there angels on earth
And then one guy said
Well you can take that for what it's worth
If it's something I can see or something I can touch
Well I might believe in all that stuff
So I just had to say to him
Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
And then I said who went through the pain
And smiled through the tears on the day of your birth?
She counted your fingers and toes and thank god you were whole
Son you outta know who loved you first, that's right
And who always came running everytime you cried out
And how many more things have you forgotten about
And who tried their best to teach you wrong from right
And how many nights did she leave on the light
While she waited and prayed that you came in
And who'd be there for you right up to the end
Think about it tonight
Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
That's right

I think its called " Mother" . My mom used to sing this. I think I remember the words. "M is for the million things she gave me, O means only that she's growing old, T is for the tears she shed to save me, H is for her heart of purest gold, E is for the lovelight that is shining(?) R is right and right she'll always be. Put them all together they spel MOTHErR a word that means the world to me." Wow..I think I came close. 🙂

Kondrat the song is called " M-O-T-H-E-R ( Name That Means The World To Me)" It is truly a beautifull song. It's one of my favorites
Here are the Lyrics: You had it right.
I've been around the world, you bet, but never went to school Hard knocks are all I seem to get, perhaps I've been a fool; But still, some educated folks, supposed to be so swell, Would fail if they were called upon a simple word to spell. Now if you'd like to put me to the test, There's one dear name that I can spell the best! "M" is for the million things she gave me "O" means only that she's growing old "T" is for the tears she shed to save me "H" is for her heart of purest gold "E" is for her eyes with love-light shining "R" means right and right she'll always be Put them all together they spell MOTHER, a word that means the world to me. When I was but a baby, long before I learned to walk, While lying in my cradle, I would try my best to talk; It wasn't long before I spoke and all the neighbors heard, My folks were very proud of me for "Mother" was the word. Although I'll never lay a claim to fame, I'm satisfied that I can spell the name: "M" is for the mercy she possesses "O" means that I owe her all I own "T" is for her tender, sweet caresses "H" is for her hands that made a home "E" means ev'rything she's done to help me "R" means real and regular, you see Put them all together they spell MOTHER, a word that means the world to me.

My mom loved music. In her late years I’d find her sitting in her car listening to CDs, singing along while she waited for me to pick her up for lunch or shopping. The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and many more blasted from the car. I’d have to tap on the window to get her attention. We got a kick out of this, it set the tone for a nice afternoon out on the town. At the end of her life I moved her in with me. I’d play these CDs loud and long while she sipped Coca Cola thru a straw. Some times we’d kick it up a notch and share a root beer float!

Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) - Celine Dion. Sad, of course. But, a message to Mom about how much she means to us for the rest of her life. This song took on a whole new meaning to me after my own Mother passed. She was 99. Fortunately, I appreciated her as much as the song indicates. How is your Mom doing? How is your relationship with her? When was the last time you spoke with her and saw her?
