Songs about Heroes or Heroines
Just trying to think up a new song topic, so maybe try this one. Think of songs about your heros or heroines. Songs may have hero in the title or lyrics (those are easy), but others may be inferred by something a person has done, or be in reference to a particular person. Be creative!
So here are my first picks to get started -
Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
Candle in the Wind - Elton John (in reference to Marilyn Monroe and later Lady Diana)

"Not All Heroes Wear Capes"
by The Owls
"He doesn't fight crime
Or wear a cape
He doesn't read minds
Or levitate
But every time my world needs saving
He's my Superman
Some folks don't believe in heroes
'Cause they haven't met my dad"

Angel of Harlem - U2
Bono said that he wrote this as a tribute to the jazz music he heard on his arrival in NYC. It's about Billie Holiday (Lady Day in the song) with references to John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Birdland on 53.

Pictures of Home - Deep Purple
Here in this prison
Of my own making
Year after day I have grown
Into a hero
But there's no worship
Where have they hidden my throne?
He's not feeling like the rock star he's made out to be. One of Ian Gillan's best lyrics (imo), this song seems to pick up where Smoke on the Water leaves off.

Thank @1968Hoya46 for reminding me of these additions by putting "Sweet Soul Music" on this list:
Stand by Me - Spyder Turner - a homage to several singers. https://youtu.be/yZCTmTZ6MYo
And, two songs that certainly belong together on this list:
Night Shift - The Commodores https://youtu.be/FrkEDe6Ljqs
Rock and Roll Heaven - The Righteous Brothers https://youtu.be/5FHA1HqJoYg
