Songs about Heroes or Heroines
Just trying to think up a new song topic, so maybe try this one. Think of songs about your heros or heroines. Songs may have hero in the title or lyrics (those are easy), but others may be inferred by something a person has done, or be in reference to a particular person. Be creative!
So here are my first picks to get started -
Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
Candle in the Wind - Elton John (in reference to Marilyn Monroe and later Lady Diana)

"Geordie" by Custer Larue.
No, not La Forge. A Scottish song whose heroine is Geordie's wife, who rides to Edinburgh to rescue him after he is falsely accused of murder. An amazing song by an amazing singer. I suspect a lot of you who view this will not have heard it. Give it a listen: https://youtu.be/DnUVL4A6u_s

Streets of London - Ralph McTell
Have you seen the old man outside the seaman's mission
Memory fading with the medal ribbons that he wears
And in the winter city, the rain cries a little pity
For one more forgotten hero, and a World that doesn't care

Two featuring Fess Parker:
The Ballad of Davy Crockett - Tennessee Ernie Ford (and recorded first by Fess Parker, himself).
The Ballad of Daniel Boone - Vera Matson (with her husband, Ken Darby) and Lionel Newman. And, again, recorded by Fess Parker, near as I can tell.

Wow! Did not know about this - I will have to rack my brain. Since she had a birthday this week, how about the hit single by Jeanne-Paule Marie "Jeannine" Deckers, better known as Sœur Sourire and often credited as The Singing Nun in English-speaking countries: "Dominique". Her song about the founder of her order, Saint Dominic?

Cool video! I always liked that song, but back in 1959, I didn't have a clue what he was singing about!
