Songs about Heroes or Heroines

Just trying to think up a new song topic, so maybe try this one. Think of songs about your heros or heroines. Songs may have hero in the title or lyrics (those are easy), but others may be inferred by something a person has done, or be in reference to a particular person. Be creative!

So here are my first picks to get started -

Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler

Candle in the Wind - Elton John (in reference to Marilyn Monroe and later Lady Diana)

“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” - Jimi Hendrix

My niece's husband dedicated the song, "  Hero" by Mariah Carey, to his mother for their mother and son dance at his wedding. Her husband's father had passed away when he was just a small boy and his mother raised him and his brother by herself. I thought it was very touching and appropriate. "And then a hero comes along, with the strength to carry on. And you cast your fears aside and you know you can survive. So when you feel like hope is gone. Look inside you and be strong. And you'll finally see the truth. That a hero lies in you". What a wonderful dedication to his mother.
