Songs With Stories About Characters
Songs are often used to tell a story, and sometimes it involves particular characters. So this category is about the stories based on characters in the song. This is one of my favorites . . .

Frog Went A Courtin' - Olde Scottish Nursery rhyme / folk song
It ultimately became a popular 'American' folk song.
My favorite version is this one from the early 60's (I wore out this album) by The Brothers Four -

Here's another version by The Boss -

Enjoy!

Found a Job (Talking Heads):
"D--- that television what a bad picture"!
"Don't get upset, it's not a major disaster".
"There's nothing on tonight", he said, "I don't know what's the matter"!
"Nothing's ever on", she said, "so I don't know why you bother."

Starstruck - Rainbow
Ronnie James Dio wrote the song based on a girl who had been stalking Ritchie Blackmore. She had followed the band all over Europe, and even appeared once at Blackmore's house. He let his dogs out to chase her away. They did her no harm and she finally left.

Pancho & Lefty - Townes Van Zandt, most famously covered by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, and others
This story song is about a bandito named Pancho, and his buddy Lefty, who sells him out. Though there are some vague similarities to Pancho Villa, Van Zandt said that he didn't have anyone in mind when he wrote the song.
