I guess we use the eyes to shed tears. I didn't realize how sad we were in the 1960's but we must have been because:

Tracks of My Tears- Smokey Robinson and The Miracles (1965)

As Tears Go By- Rolling Stones (1966)

96 Tears- ? (Question Mark) and The Mysterians (1966)

And while outside the decade of the Sixties, a song that still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It was written in honor of his  4 year old son, Conor, who died when he fell 53 stories from an apartment window. The song is 24 years old (1991) and still catches my attention every time:

Tears In Heaven- Eric Clapton (1991)
