"Forever Young"  by Rod Stewart

May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud, dignified and true
And do unto others as you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever young

I, too, enjoyed songs growing up from "Sugar Shack", to the Beatles "Yesterday" and "When I'm 64" and so on, to "Cat's in the Cradle", to "The Boys in my Little Girl's Life", to "He Stopped Loving Her Today", to "Giddy Up Go", and so many more.

One of my favorite songs of all time and the song my wife and I adopted for our relationship, admittedly mostly because of its place in my heart:
"Daisy A Day" by Jud Strunk, 1972

Enjoy!

Who of us can forget or not now appreciate the irony in the Who's infamous line of "Hope I die before I get old" from My Generation or the Rolling Stones' "What a drag it is getting old" from Mother's Little Helper?

Where Are We Going From Here - Blackmore's Night   (lyrics by Candice Night)

On a long road, miles to go
It's winding and cold and it's covered with snow
But I ask you what we all want to know
Where are we going from here?

Lines on my face, lines on my hands
Lead to a future, I don't understand
Some things don't go as they're planned
Where are we going from here?

Tracing the trails through the mirrors of time
Spinning in circles with riddles in rhyme
We lose our way, trying to find
Searching to find our way home
Trying to find our way home

As the day dies, with tears in our eyes
There's too few hellos and too many goodbyes
Silence answers our cries
Where are we going from here?

We're all on this road, miles to go
Braving new pathways into the unknown
But who do you ask, when no one really knows
Where we are going from here?

At Seventeen

Janis Ian

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired

The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth

Alice Cooper sang about being in "the middle, the middle of life", being a boy and being a man, and having a "baby's brain and an old man's heart" in I'm Eighteen.

Wild Montana Skies - John Denver and Emmylou Harris

A beautiful duet, and a song-story about the life of an orphan as only John Denver could tell. If this doesn't move you, please check for a pulse Cat Wink.

Late in the Evening

Paul Simon

Then I learned to play some lead guitar
I was underage In this funky bar
And I stepped outside to smoke
myself a "J"
And when I came back to the room
Everybody just seemed to move
And I turned my amp up loud and I began
to play
And it was late in the evening
And I blew that room away
