SONG TITLES and SONGS about DISTANCES & TRAVEL

I'll try to get this topic started with these song titles about DISTANCES/TRAVELING   ...........

*Travelin' Man     Ricky Nelson   which made it to #1 in 1961

*I Ran (So Far Away)     Flock of Seagulls

For a different approach, songs about  DISTANCES/TRAVELING...........

*Walk Away Renee'     The Left Banke

*Ferry Across The Mersey     Gerry & The Pacemakers

Uh, I am sorry if I led off with songs which you may have wanted to post here. How about this....wait a while and then post it....or post it now ! You see, repetition is OKAY Man Wink

Please understand, there's lots of freedom and latitude with this topic. Be creative....let's have plenty of laughs and plenty of wows like:  "Wow, I wish I had thought of that one!!" "Wow, that's a good one!!

"Africa"  by Toto

"I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in, 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had (ooh, ooh)"

"Pata Pata" is a great add. We line danced to it  back in the days when I called square dances. I first heard Miriam Makeba on an album I still have, and is available on CD: "Belafonte Returns to Carnegie Hall". I checked; it is also available for download. HIGHLY recommended.

Fun fact: Miriam's language is Xhosa. That is the language spoken by Wakandans in the Marvel movies.

I mentioned "Whiskey in the Jar" a couple of days ago. It turns out that the song was written about a highwayman named Patrick Fleming. The tune was also turned into a Civil War song by the Irish who fought in that war. Here, thanks to Irish Central, is an article about both:

How about, "Love Street" *  The Doors

I went thru there at Haight*Ashbury in 68', not as a resident but stationed nearby at Travis AFB. It changed from the summer of love, 67'. But it still was interesting.

"Whiskey In the Jar" - a lot of people have recorded this one. Traveling and working on Gilgarry Mountain. As a highwayman. So...here are both sets of "The Highwaymen".

"Time of Your Life"  by Green Day

"Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go

So make the best of this test, and donโ€™t ask why
Itโ€™s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
Itโ€™s something unpredictable, but in the end itโ€™s right
I hope you had the time of your life"

@l483260l  "Suzanne" was written by Leonard Cohen. I think the biggest hit version was by Chad Mitchell. I think that was in 1967 or 1968. Fun fact about Chad: He had a folk group, The Chad Mitchell Trio. When he went solo the group went on as the Mitchell Trio. Chad was replaced by a kid named John Denver.
