SONG TITLES and SONGS about DISTANCES & TRAVEL

I'll try to get this topic started with these song titles about DISTANCES/TRAVELING   ...........

*Travelin' Man     Ricky Nelson   which made it to #1 in 1961

*I Ran (So Far Away)     Flock of Seagulls

For a different approach, songs about  DISTANCES/TRAVELING...........

*Walk Away Renee'     The Left Banke

*Ferry Across The Mersey     Gerry & The Pacemakers

Uh, I am sorry if I led off with songs which you may have wanted to post here. How about this....wait a while and then post it....or post it now ! You see, repetition is OKAY Man Wink

Please understand, there's lots of freedom and latitude with this topic. Be creative....let's have plenty of laughs and plenty of wows like:  "Wow, I wish I had thought of that one!!" "Wow, that's a good one!!

It Might As Well Rain Until September: Carole King (her guy's away for the summer so she stays in her room waiting for his return, not caring whether the summer brings sun or rain. A cute pre-feminist song written by Carole.

Fun fact: Drummer Joe Butler sang lead on this, as John B. Sebastian had left the group. Actress Yancy Butler ("Witchblade") is Joe's daughter.

I have always loved "The Mighty Quinn" by Manfred Mann. Fun fact about the lead singer, Paul d'Abo: his daughter is actress Olivia d'Abo ("Law and Order: Criminal Intent"'s Nicole Wallace). Actress Maryam d'Abo ("The Living Daylights") is their cousin.

WHAT'S INTERESTING IS SOME OF THE MUSIC WENT FROM THE U.S.(BLUES) TO BRITS & CAME BACK TO U.S. AS ROCK& ROLL.

Re the Brits: **bleep** straight. The Beatles refused to play in segregated venues; it was in their contracts. That was to honor many of their musical heroes, who were Black. Later, when John Lennon made his statement about the Beatles being more popular than Jesus (Dumb, poorly worded, and needed to be placed in context..), the people who burned their records were egged on by religious leaders. In the same areas where people were forced to attend integrated concerts. At least one group took a different approach: How can this band be more effective at attracting people than we are? They issued a series of religious texts that brought the lessons of God into the modern world, and showed how they were, and will, always be relevant. The series was called Discovery, and I still have my set of them.
