Please Just Go Songs

Social distancing kind of stinks, but it's a necessary evil and it is temporary.  But sometimes six feet is not enough. You want them out of your life forever.  Today we can let them know this by ghosting them, deleting them from our contact lists, unfriending them.   But yesterday, today, and most likely tomorrow, when we want to say "We're done here," we can do it in a song.  It can be done gently, as in "Young Girl" by the Union Gap or it can be downright nasty, as in  "Hit the Road, Jack. " How many songs can you think of that are asking, telling, or otherwise suggesting that someone just get lost?

Blame it on Me - Chrisette Michele

You can say whatever you like
As long as we just say goodbye
Blame it on me
Say it's my fault
Say that I left you outside in the cold with a broken heart
I really don't care
I ain't crying no more
Say I'm a liar a cheater
Say anything that you want
As long as it's over

This lying, and cryin', is upsettin' and gettin' ya no where
It don't stack up, so slack up and pack up
I just don't care
Don't let the screen door hit you, on your way out.
Don't you drown when your dream boat runs onto the ground

God Will -- Lyle Lovett

So who says he'll forgive you
And says that he'll miss you
And dream of your sweet memory
God does
But I don't
God will
But I won't
And that's the difference
Between God and me

Can't Cry Anymore -- Sheryl Crow

Took your car
Drove to Texas
Sorry honey
But I suspected we were through
And I can't cry anymore
Since I left
Been feelin' better cause that's
What you get when you
Stay together too long
And I can't cry anymore

Goodbye to You (Patty Smythe/Scandal)

Is She Really Going Out with Him (Joe Jackson)

Never knew the name of this song (until I looked it up just now) but...Positively 4th Street by Bob Dylan has some of the best 'get out of my life' lyrics.  My favorite lines are probably the last ones:

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time

You could stand inside my shoes

You'd know what a drag it is

To see you

Devil Woman: Marty Robbins (He cheats on Mary with the "devil woman". He confesses to Mary. Mary forgives him. Now he's giving the "devil woman" the old heave-ho, which is fine, although he blames the "devil woman" for his cheating instead of blaming himself).
