PROTEST & REBELLION SONGS.."get it off your chest"

The only stipulation here is that the song should be commentary,  controversial, expressing a rebellious, protesting "frame of mind"; generally, or speciffically, about society, culture, economics, wealth, poverty, politics, war, peace, relationships, etc, etc, etc.

How about some songs which, when you heard them, you thought, "Yeh, those lyrics tell it like it is!" or maybe you were offended by the controversial lyrics.

Your song selection may be from any time period in history and about any topic you choose, old songs and new songs.

Please be free to post protest & rebellion songs which either you agreed with or which "honked" you off.

Here is an opportunity to "Get it off your chest!" Go ahead and briefly include memorable lyrics of the song if you like [ if you remember 🙂 ]

To begin.....here's a protest song:     Subterranean Homesick Blues     Bob Dylan

Message for Darcy Farrow but I didn't know how to send it to just you.

"Now I see where you got your user name. I love that song and John Denver, too."

**If anyone knows how to send a message just to a user (not a private mail message) please let me know.  Thank you

A song both of protest and of hope:

Yes, We Can Can - The Pointer Sisters.

It's deja vu all over again.  The present day protests are similar to what many of us experienced back in the 60s and 70s - with some notable exceptions:  Todays protests are lacking the sex, drugs and rock and roll!  Gosh - Where is Tim Leary when you need him?   "Tune in, Turn On and drop out..  Remember?

Ewww - one of my offspring just dropped by - gotta run.

@wilful - Tim Leary said it, but this generation has made it real. Take one phone. Add a pair of earbuds. Turn on, tune in, and drop out.

Readjustment Blues - Tom Paxton, also done by John Denver.

A soldier returns home from war (in this case, Vietnam). He gets caught up in a protesting crowd, and realizes that the guns he was taught to use are now trained on him. Given the last few weeks, the song seems relevant, right now. Here's John's version.
