LAST LINES
Weโve done First Notes and Opening Lines so
itโs time to do Last Lines. What are your most
memorable last lines of your fav songs? If
youโre so inclined, tell us why also ๐ผ๐
โAnd in the end, the love you take
Is equal to the love you makeโ
The End, Fab 4๏ธโฃ
The final lines from this song from the incredible Abbey Road Medley have always resonated
to me in the deepest way. To me they represent
equality, purity, love and religion all wrapped up in one. This stands as one of the best last lines ever, imo ๐ผ๐

Sundown, you better take care
If I find you been creeping โround
my back stairs
Sometimes I think itโs a sin
When I feel like Iโm winning
when Iโm losing again
Sundown, Gordon Lightfoot
A troubled romantic relationship recalling
an affair with a hard loving woman
Lyrics are amazing, Gordon at his best ๐ผ๐

"Never Forget" - Judas Priest - 2014 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApFyTdpRv5M
As we relive the best times of our lives
You were there for us and stood right by our sides
Yes we know that all good things come to an end
This is just farewell and not goodbye my friends
And we thank you for it all
We will never forget
Beautiful ballad and wonderful words to read/hear today (and any day).

"What's Beautiful" - Everlife
Lately I've been fighting with that girl in the mirror
Who decides what's beautiful
We are all so different, not one is the same
Now it's time that we can all decide
What's beautiful
-- Body image. The shame is what "society" makes us believe is beautiful. Has become tragic for some (emotionally and physically).
My favorite line in the song is:
Learning how to truly love who I was made to be

"Walk on the Ocean" - Toad the Wet Sprocket (91)
We don't even have pictures
Just memories to hold
That grow sweeter each season
As we slowly grow old
To me, it means things you do in life can stay in your memories. You don't need photos to treasure those things as the years go by. Actually, that is what it says. ๐ฑ

Iโm free, Iโm free(Iโm free)
Things are only as important as I
want them to be
Weโll have a breath of sunshine
When the rain goes away (Sunshine)
I pray (Sunshine) I pray, I pray
Iโm free, Jon Secada
A song full of optimism and taking
another chance.
A breath of sunshine indeed ๐ผ๐

Maggie, I wished Iโd never seen your face
Iโll get on back home one of these days
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Maggie May, Rod Stewart
This guy knows he should be gone by now
but he just canโt bring himself to go. I love
this classic song, one of his best ๐ผ๐

Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me, itโs just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
Dream On - Aerosmith
I think someone listed the opening lines, so here are the closing lines to this remarkable song composed by a teenaged Steven Tyler, long before there was Aerosmith.

Laughinโ laughinโ with our friends
Holdinโ hands meant so much, baby
Outside the club Cherry Bomb
Our hearts were really pumpinโ
Say yeah yeah yeah
Say yeah yeah yeah
Cherry Bomb, John Cougar Mellencamp
A nostalgic song that reflects on his teenage
years hanging out at a teen club. It reminds
me of the simplicity of my teenage years,
which took years for me to figure out ๐ผ๐

"Why Me? Why Not" - Liam Gallagher 2019 (was a member of Oasis)
- He had bought John Lennon's self-portrait drawing called "Why Me?", at an art exhibit. Yoko gave him the other one of the set, "Why Not?" a few years later.
To me it is about don't let others dictate how you feel about yourself or your circumstances.
"Stand your ground and defy
Anyone that tries to tell you you ain't beautiful
When you get so down, you could cry
Count the love you got
Fill your heart with why me? Why not?"

How can I be lost
If Iโve got nowhere to go?
Search for seas of gold
How come itโs got so cold?
How can I be lost
In remembrance I relive?
So how can I blame you
When itโs me I canโt forgive?
Unforgiven III - Metallica
He comes to the conclusion that he has been living in the past and blaming everyone else for his problems, but realizes that he alone is responsible. โI canโt forgive myself.โ James Hetfield said that this is his favorite of the trilogy.
Hat trick! ๐๐ฅ

What is my life without your love?
Tell me, who am I without you by my side?
Oh, tell me, what is my life without your love?
What is life, George Harrison
This sweet song was originally written for
Billy Preston. So glad he kept it for himself

What Iโve felt, what Iโve known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?
(So I dub thee unforgiven)
Oh, what Iโve felt
Oh, what Iโve known
I take this key (never free)
And I bury it (never me) in you
Because youโre unforgiven too
(never free, never me)
โCause youโre unforgiven too
Unforgiven II - Metallica
Musically, moving, and lyrically, chilling, it is the heaviest of the three. The lyrics leave a lot of room for interpretation, but basically, itโs about a relationship in which they canโt forgive each other. It is my favorite of the three.

Heโs a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Nowhere Man, Fab 4๏ธโฃ
There are multiple stories of the true
meaning of this song. I know it is John
at his best, describing a feeling that all
of us can relate to at one time or another

Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
Unforgiven - Metallica
The first of the Unforgiven trilogy is largely autobiographical for James Hetfield based on experiences from his childhood and the death of his mother. This one represents โI canโt forgive them.โ

"Thirteen" - Big Star (72) - About blooming teenage love
(First paragraph talks about trying to meet up)
(This is the middle paragraph. Apparently dad isn't too thrilled with this wanna-be boyfriend)
"Won't you tell your dad, "get off my back"
Tell him what we said 'bout "Paint It Black"
Rock 'n Roll is here to stay
Come inside where it's okay
And I'll shake you, ooh ooh ooh"
(Last paragraph asks her if she wants to make a go of it despite dad's opinion, but he will respect decision if no)

Come on darling put a pretty dress on
Weโre gonna go out tonight
And dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
All night long
Dance, dance, dance, Steve Miller Band
Always loved this sweet, fun song about a
young man trying to get his girl to go out
dancing. Ah good times ๐ผ๐

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
And it all comes down to you
Gypsy, Fleetwood Mac
This song has multiple meanings but these
lines allude to how love comes once or
maybe twice in a lifetime ๐ผ๐
