I have been a fan since his early rock days in the 60s with First Edition.

An amazing voice has unfortunately been silenced.

I'm not a big country music fan, but I always LOVED Kenny Rogers. My Mom was a huge fan and she would play his music all the time so I grew up loving him, even when it wasn't cool to do so. He was a humble and gentle man and an amazing musician. Will always think of him when I listen to my fav by him "Islands in the stream" with the equally amazing Dolly Parton. And fyi, that song was written by The Bee Gees. RIP Kenny we will miss you 😢

It's kinda like country met R&B. Rogers sang across many genres. I didn't know, until I read it in the obit, that Kenny Rogers and The First Edition was born out of The New Christy Minstrels, a group that I listened to a lot back in the 60's. I loved KR &TFE, especially Just Dropped In (to see what condition my condition was in).

I saw him about 5 years ago and he put on a really good show. He had great stories behind the songs. He said he had no clue what just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in was about but he sang it and he did it very well. Love this from The Big Lebowski.
