  Hi Lady

and ya me too!

My version would make you fall on the ground laughing

All I will say is that in my version the third line end with "and a wounded dog"  LOL

Diane

  Hey Diane,

LOL..... that is exactly how I thought the third line ended!  I wonder what other songs we have misinterpreted?

Hey, there are lots of obscure
songs and artists and facts about Rock and Roll.  So I
figured this was a good place to come and ask about some of
them.

So I am going to start this
topic with:

Does anybody remember Wolly
Bully by Sam the Sham and the Pharaos?

I danced to that song quite a
long time ago but I never knew the words and never looked them up.

Ok so here they are, but what
the heck do they mean?  and what the heck was the name of
that dance we did to this?  : )

Diane

Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro
Matty told Hatty
about a thing she saw.
Had two big horns and a wooly
jaw.
Wooly bully, wooly bully.
Wooly bully,
wooly bully, wooly bully.
Hatty told Matty, "Let's
don't take no chance.
Let's not be L-seven, come and
learn to dance."
Wooly bully, wooly bully

Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.
Matty told
Hatty, "That's the thing to do.
Get you someone
really to pull the wool with you."
Wooly bully,
wooly bully.
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.

I can't imagine what "pull the wool" is referring to, or at least, I can't imagine anything suitable for a G-rated forum.  But the phrase, "Let's not be L-seven" refers to being a square.  Make a capital L with your left hand and form the number 7 with your right.  Now touch your fingertips together and you have a square.

I definately remember the song.  I think the dance we did was the hully gully.  I also liked Little Red Ridin Hood.  I've got that one on a CD.

                      Bill

  Hi

Is that what is was?  I will definately take your word for it as I do not remember at all...  I do remember how popular dancing was when I was a teen.

Did you have weekend dances where you lived?

  Hey Diane,

We use to play a game where we added the words "under the bed sheets" after the title of every song.  Try it once and I think you'll get some pretty good laughs.

  Hi Diane,

You are quite welcome.  I see Mike mentioned "Little Red Riding Hood".  I have that one on 45 as well.  When we were teens my sister Colleen changed all the words to that song.  Her boyfriend cheated on her with a girl named Robin so she changed it to "Little Red Robin _ _ ore."  I think you can figure it out. LOL

  Hi Janese

Thanls for the look up and info.  Isn't that weird.  The band went right to recording without solid lyrics and the song became a huge hit....  and the lyrics are weird!!!!

but I remember how great it was to dance to.
