I have never karaoke'd in my life. I like watching friends do it, though.
I would probably enjoy trying it if the ratio between
โข close friends in the audience
โข people I don't know and will never see again in the audience
โข amount of alcohol consumed
...was curated perfectly. That third factor would be the most important. You're not getting me up on stage until you have to help me up there! Oh, and I'll be collecting cell phones at the beginning of the night. You can get them back from whoever drives me home.
I had a real good friend that use to just love it - she would drag me up on stage to do it with her - wasn't my cup of tea but I humored her and she loved it so much. She was a real performer all the way around.
When she died and we were coming up with the program for her Celebration of Life - one of the things we did was have the audience sing her favorite Karaoke song. "These Boots Are Make For Walking" - Nancy Sinatra
The memory of my friend up on stage in those white boots that she wore during her Karaoke performance forever pictured in our memory.
