@l483260l - You reminded me of the old variety tv shows like Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Glenn Campbell, etc. They all had guests on their shows that ranged in genres, and they usually managed to croon out a tune with them. I suspect there are a lot of unlikely pairings in those old shows!
This is one of the most unlikely pairings, and it has turned out to be one of my favorite albums. It also won two Grammys (Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Folk Album, 2009).
