Raising Sand - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

This was a great pairing although I was skeptical at the time.

NOT A FAN OF EITHER- BUT THIS SONG- WOW! IT REMINDED ME OF ONE OF MY FAVORITE DUETS: JIMMIE DALE GILMORE& LUCINDA WILLIAMS-"REUNION". HE HAS AN ETHEREAL VOICE & A STYLE IN A CLASS BY HIMSELF; HER VOICE SOUNDS TO ME LIKE TEXAS - WHISKEY & HONEY

Here's another unlikely combo whose musical styles really work well together. Maybe it's because they have some basic Celtic inspired roots. I've always been a fan of both and love this album, too!

All the Road Running - Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris

Here's a sample -

@l483260l - You reminded me of the old variety tv shows like Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Glenn Campbell, etc.  They all had guests on their shows that ranged in genres, and they usually managed to croon out a tune with them. I suspect there are a lot of unlikely pairings in those old shows!

Brilliant idea! First one that comes to mind . . . (and Willie has others, too)

THIS COULD BE FUN: WE COULD START WITH ACTUAL  DUETS, THEN GO TO DREAM DUETS/WORST IDEA DUETS...

I'LL START W/ SOME ACTUALS;

   TOM WAITS & CRYSTAL GAYLE-"ONE FROM THE HEART" SOUNDTRACK;   LYLE LOVETT& AL GREEN_"FUNNY HOW TIME SLIPS AWAY"; BOB DYLAN& JOHNNY CASH-"NASHVILLE SKYLINE".
