Florida holds a multitude of loud and flashy attractions, but across the state from Tampa my favorite hidden treasure lies tucked away within Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, northwest of Fort Lauderdale. The largest butterfly park on Earth, Butterfly World teems with life year 'round due to sunny South Florida's balmy weather. Somewhere around 5000 live butterflies can be found here, and the park's founder, Ronald Boender is also founder of the wildly successful “Bring Back the Butterflies” campaign. Dedicated to educating people regarding how to support their local butterfly populations, the campaign has supplied free butterfly gardening materials to anyone who expressed interest. This program is credited with helping to create thousands of new butterfly habitats across North America, with a resulting substantial increase in butterfly populations.
