Washington is a great city for museums and historical landmarks but also has great opportunities for cheap or free entertainment! Enjoy a free performance at the Kennedy Center every day at on the Millenium Stage. Washington DC’s premier concert hall offers a free performance every evening at 6 p.m. Programs include performances by the National Symphony Orchestra, jazz musicians, poets, dance troupes, etc...   Or if you're in DC during the summer try out these events.

The National Gallery of Art offers free jazz performances at Jazz in the Garden at its outdoor café every Friday evening throughout the summer. Visitors can enjoy cocktails and a light dinner while listening to great music in a relaxed garden setting.

Washington, DC has enjoyed a tradition of live military band concerts since 1863. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force bands perform on alternating days throughout the summer. Concerts are free and no tickets are required. They perform at various locations around the city including the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

And each year in August the Shakespeare Theatre Company presents the Free For All— two weeks of free performances at Sidney Harman Hall in downtown DC.  All of these events are great, free ways to enjoy a bit of relaxing entertainment after a  day sightseeing in this amazing city!
