The nice thing about Austin is it's "walkable" A college town, and full or history makes it a great place to visit. Hit the visitors center for a brochure on a free architectural walking tour. and even better, it takes you to Sixth St, where all the musics is! Very similar to French Quarter in New Orleans. The tour of the capital is free, and WELL worth the time. Then head to The Driskill hotel...walking distance from the capital, for a bite in the 1886 Café and Bakery. Looks like an old train station kind of café. Interesting and sandwiches are great!
