Like many people deciding where to relocate for retirement, Theresa Chaklos had a wish list.

It included good health care — she is a breast cancer survivor and has back issues. Culture was also important; while living and working in the Washington, D.C., area, she had been a volunteer tour guide at the Kennedy Center. And she wanted to be closer to family.

Do you feel YOUR location is an area RETIREES are moving to or should?  ‌🤔‌

I am in Cave Spring, Virginia and YES!!!  ‌👍‌

(1) Awesome healthcare thanks to Carilion Hospital. There is also a HUGE Veterans Hospital "next door" - about 1/2 hour away in Salem. Lol, so far, I am on my 2nd Medicare Doctor at age 67. Cried when 1st one left last year 2024. Saw 2nd one this year January 2025 & HOPE he is still there in 2026. SAME practice. Female doctor left practice for another "non" medicare opportunity.

I am very surprised my state Virginia is NOT on this list as some areas are always in the news for being a great Retirement area. I am also surprised Florida is still on this list with all the back-to-back hurricanes, tornadoes and so on. When I left in 2015 after living there for several years, my area had NEVER had any weather issues. Now it seems ALL of Florida has been affected in some way. Lol, I am dragging my feet with returning.
