By the time you reach your 50s, you may start to notice some โsilver sparklersโ mixed in with your natural hair color. The good news is that graying hair, while a visible sign of aging, is not a symptom of an illness or chronic condition. But once weโve gone gray, can we ever go back to our original color?
Hair turns gray when the cells that make the color pigments in our hair slow down production as we age. โFamily history is the biggest predictor,โ says Leslie Castelo-Soccio, M.D., associate director of clinical research at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. Besides genetics, psychological stress and vitamin deficiencies can affect hair quality and color.

At age 67 this year 2025, I have salt & pepper hair. At age 30 I had stopped worrying about the "random" gray strand which I would use a tweezer to pluck out. ๐
My younger brother by 10 years seem to have been born with lots of gray hair.
My mom was COMPLETELY gray by the time she died in her 80's years ago.
I am COMFORTABLE with my Aging Journey and still keep my hair shoulder length. Yes, growing up I had read that "short" hair fits OLDER women. Lol, nope - NOT me. My mother did cut off all of her hair to what I guess you would call a boy's cut ๐ฑ = easier to manage as she aged. Who knows, I may have to on down the line but for now, no.
Are you gray? ๐ค
Or maybe still dyeing your hair? ๐ค I use to, but got lazy and cheap in my 50's.
Any comments? ๐ค
Take care,
