When her son Corbett joined the Marine Corps right out of high school in 2013, Lara Ferguson was surprised to learn that he was required to sign up for a retirement savings account.
It wasnโt just the militaryโs focus on financial planning that got her attention. It was that, as a certified financial planner herself, she seldom saw civilian clients start preparing for retirement so early.
